Hopefully Team USA will do better in hockey and win the gold this time around. All of us should be over Yandle getting screwed over by now. Boy were out jimmies rustled over the decision to not to have Yandle on the roster.

It sucks that NHLers won't be there, but it's still Olympic hockey so I'm in. I'll probably watch some of the other events but probably just before or after hockey. I'll be watching the sled hockey in the paralympics too probably.

I like any event where a judge does not determine the winner.

Watching:
hockey
skiing, Nordic and Alpine (no big air or other x-game type garbage)
curling (looks like a great beer drinking game)
speed skating, short and long track (is it called long track?)
bobsled, luge, skeleton (best named sport ever)
biathlon (surprised this sport hasn't been banned as too violent)

Not watching:
figure skating
snow boarding and skiing big air, tricks, freestyle whatever.

Amazing how many recent Coyotes washouts are now out of the NHL. The Olympic Athletes from Russia are favorites, right? Kovalchuk and Voynov the two best players in the tournament apart from maybe the pre-NHL 17-20 year olds.

Pavel Datsyuk would like a word.

Just about the exact same for me. My only exception is that I still like ski jumping even though judges determine half your score. It's more technical (was it a "clean landing with good form") than artistic (i.e. all of figure skating) at least.

Of course I'll watch. I'll watch my country Norway getting totally crushed by Sweden, Finland, and then possibly giving Germany a match, hoping for Norways first win in the Olympics since 1994's "avoid the last place" -game against Austria (really.) . Some other games may also find their way. I think this is the Olympics Switzerland takes over the position as the sixth big 6 from the chechs.

But first of all: you guys really has to find biathlon. A combination of target-pratice and cross-country skiing. This sport is groving massively around in Europe, and even the US are starting to get people in it. A biathlon relay or mass-start is the best.

And then there is all that other stuff. Except bobsleigh and luge. That's for kids. And figure-skating. We've given up on that over here.

All kinds of ex-yotes on those rosters, from the Olympic Hockey forums:

Canada - Brule, Ebbett, Klinkhammer, Wolski, C Thomas (hey, 1 game)
USA - Arcobello
Artists formerly known as Russian - Datsyuk
Slovakia - Ladislav Nagy (!)
Sweden - Lindstrom
Finland - Lepisto
Germany - Plachta (Springfield AHL)
Czechia - Erat, Sekac

...anyone I missed?

If they allowed sub-machine guns, we in the U.S. would probably follow it more

Nagy still plays hockey? He was my favorite player once upon a time .
Even though he's 38 (hard to believe he hasn't played for us in over 10 years), I'd take him back on this team for a season or two.

38 points in 36 games in 2017-2018, 61 points in 50 games in 2016-2017.

Curling would be more fun playing while drunk.

I always watch at least a little bit. Part of my Cold War upbringing when this was important. But the reality is that the olympics are 1 sport I care about, this time played by third rate players; and dozens of other sports I watch once every 4 years. Not exactly must-see-tv.

As we get closer and I look more at the rosters I'm not sure I'm going to watch a ton of the Olympics. Are any draft eligible or recent draftees playing? Just watching a bunch of NHL rejects isn't doing much for me.
