I am hoping Team USA can steal a win in one of the next two games in Chicago so there is a Game 5 back in Plymouth on Sunday. We were out of town, so missed the first two home games of the series. USA Hockey was quite generous with tickets -- playoff tickets and parking were free as long as you made a $100 deposit towards next season's tickets. This was a no-brainer for us, since we planned on renewing our season tickets anyway.

Waterloo took a 2 games to 1 lead in their best-of-5 series with Lincoln on Wednesday night, with Game 4 scheduled for Thursday night on Lincoln ice. The eventual winner of that Western Conference Semifinals set will move on to face Fargo in the Conference Finals, after the Force eliminated Omaha in 4 games.

Also on Thursday night, the remaining Eastern Conference Semifinals series continues in the Fox Valley with Chicago hosting Team USA. That series is currently tied 1-1.

Keep track of all this via the Conference Semifinals post above.

Waterloo moves on to face Fargo in the West Finals, after holding on to defeat Lincoln in Game 4 of their Semifinals series on Thursday night.

That leaves the Chicago vs. Team USA East Semis to complete, with USA now leading that series 2-1. Whalers Fan will be rooting for the Steel on Friday night ... and I'm OK with that. :thumbu:

Actually, I would be fine with Team USA clinching in Chicago. ;) We would still get some more home playoff games. My tickets are just sitting here, waiting to get used.

Seriously, I'm happy that the U17 NTDP is holding their own in this series. I didn't know what to expect, with the team's five best players all being promoted to the U18 team and now playing in the U18 WC in Russia. After getting beaten badly in Game 2, I wasn't sure we would have another home game in Plymouth.

This is the first USHL playoff series victory for the NDTP. That's quite an accomplishment, especially with all the players they lost to the U18 team. It will be interesting to see if Hughes, Turcotte, Caufield, York and Knight will play in the next round after they return from Russia. The IIHF U18 WC ends tomorrow.

The Phantoms will be a tough opponent for them, no matter what roster Team USA brings to the party. But I'll hop on your bandwagon (patriotically) if you'll root for the Black Hawks in the other Conference Final. I'd like the opportunity to see a pair of Finals games up in Waterloo as my last road trip of the season. :thumbu:

A very physical Game #1 in the Western Conference Finals, with a total of 22 minor penalties resulting in 16 power plays split between Fargo & Waterloo. But the host Black Hawks finally scored with less than 5 minutes left in the 3rd (NOT on a power play) and went on to win 2-0.

Waterloo takes Game #2 of the Western Conference Finals to overtime by overcoming a 2-0 deficit in the 3rd period against Fargo. But an unfortunate Too Many Men penalty in the first OT period gives the Force a power play, and they defeat the Black Hawks 3-2. The series now moves to Fargo for Games 3 & 4, on Friday & Saturday.

Any word if promoted boys will return to u17?
I thought maybe this Eastern Conference Final Notebook from the NTDP website might shed some light on that, but nothing is said about possible returnees. You should keep an eye on their Twitter site and their Facebook page for breaking news leading up to Tuesday night's Game 1.

Good luck to Team USA!

@kroypuck mentioned in the Jack Hughes prospect thread that USA Hockey placed Jack Hughes and Cam York on the playoff roster, which can only contain 25 players. So if that is the case, those two could return at some point. I wouldn't expect either player to dress for tonight's series opener, though. They would be pretty jet lagged, as they probably just got back from Russia sometime yesterday.

It was a close, back and forth game last night. Unfortunately Team USA came up on the short end in OT. Neither Hughes nor York dressed for the game. Oddly, though, Spencer Knight was listed as one of the goalies in the program, but Graziano dressed as the backup goalie. Not sure if that was just a misprint.

Somebody turned on the goal faucet for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, as Team USA outscores Youngstown 10-6, tying the series at 1-1. USA's Owen Lindmark notched a hat trick on just 5 SOGs, while team captain Marshall Warren added two goals on just 4 shots. The Phantoms scoring was spread around, with 6 different goal scorers.

That was some of the worst goaltending I've seen. Youngstown switched goalies twice (their backup is horrible), and Team USA would probably have pulled Rowe if they had a backup -- I don't think Graziano has seen any action at all since joining the program when Knight was promoted. What a bizarre hockey game! Rowe needs to learn to stay up on his skates more -- he goes down way too much and gets himself out of position.
