I had the same thought, but they did go on a 12 game win streak recently and got themselves into somewhat contention. Not sure if 10 starts from Archer will get them into the position they need, but I guess it kind of makes a bit of sense. Not much though.

They gave up 2 young prospects with their stock going the wrong way. Archer is signed for 3 more years after this season for affordable $.

The guy's arm behind the plate is worth it. Plus, it's not like he's a real dead zone for offense.

Agreed. And he's got time to hone his catching game i.e. blocking, etc
