The Tkachuks are going to want to play together. Simple as that, either Calgary makes it happen or Matthew will leave for where they will.

You have no proof, in fact sometimes having siblings can distract and hinder them and the team more than if they were both on opposite teams.

The idea would then be to package two of the picks to move up in the draft and get Brady Tkachuk.

That's even worse. Not including needs, Wahlstrom, Hughes, Smith, Bouchard, Dobson, and Boqvist are better than Tkachuk. Factoring Flames needs, Wahlstrom, Hughes, and Smith need to be the extreme priority in that order if we get a top 10 pick.

I hear Michael Stone wasn't going to re-sign in Calgary last summer unless they acquired his brother Mark. Thank god we were able to pick him up.

9/10 scouts McKenzie surveyed had Tkachuk in their top 5... I guess they are all wrong

To say we need ANOTHER small puck moving D over Tkachuk is laughable.

I'm ok with adding another Tkachuk, but not at the cost you proposed

You have to give to get man. Hamilton is our most valuable piece if you wanna win long-term is how I view it.

Not sure why you guys don't want to add another Tkachuk.
Who said that? You were claiming that they are going to demand that they play together and that it's going to eventually cause us to lose Tkachuk if we don't trade our most valuable piece right now. People disagreeing with such a flailing statement as that are not saying they don't have interest in adding another Tkachuk. That is the straw man to end all straw men.

Flames have an actual, legitimate need for a quality right handed shot forward for their powerplay unless you want another year of Brouwer flailing about there or an injury prone and unreliable Versteeg.

As good as Tkachuk may or may not be, the team has bigger needs they need to address first, especially give the cost of acquiring a top five pick.

I think Matthew would get more out of Brady as a sibling rivalry. Kids playing street hockey dream of playing alongside their brother growing up, Going for Brady would be a huge boon for Calgary IMO.

Sure. That's a massively different statement from what you said before.

Scouts opinions aren't everything. Crouse was ranked above Marner in the 2015 draft, Griffin Reinhart was considered a top 5 pick by a lot as well. Quinn Hughes scored at only a slight rate lower than Tkachuk despite being a Dman who is excellent in all 3 zones. Think of him as a Dunca Keith lite. He's that good and Giordano isn't getting younger, while neither Kylington nor Valimaki have the upside Hughes does. Tkachuk has good speed and passing and that's it. Questionable everything else. He's nowhere near as tough as Matty Tkachuk, and I feel Matt's toughness is overrated, he's more of a pest. I'd much rather have Hughes or Wahlstrom (Who is an elite RHS sniper that will help us tremendously) over Tkachuk. I'd even go with Smith because Smith is a Dman that doesn't have any true weakness, although I wouldn't be angry if Tkachuk was taken over Smith after Hughes and Wahlstrom are off the board. People are already questioning Wahlstrom's IQ, and if that's the case that's a huge red flag for not Wahlstrom but Tkachuk. Wahlstrom thinks the game at a significantly better rate than Tkachuk even when both were in the same league and frankly it isn't even close. If both players don't improve the way they think of the game, Tkachuk will basically bust, whereas Wahlstrom can still be a PP specialist that's lethal in shooting. People like to bring up how Wahlstrom doesn't engage and Tkachuk does, and how Tkachuk is a "leader". I don't see leadership qualities in Brady, what I see is arrogance that will hinder the team more than help the team. Wahlstrom is very humble. Wahlstrom doesn't engage because he doesn't need to, there's no reason to foolishly sacrifice yourself and engage when it's not necessary. Although I doubt neither will be a center, I like Wahlstrom's chances better, meaning Wahlstrom gives the team that drafts him more versatility.

Even if Tkachuk was a RHS forward, he should still not be picked over Wahlstrom (Elite shot), Hughes, and possibly Smith for us. But the fact he isn't makes it all the more reason why the obsession with acquiring him scary.

Stoke me a clipper.
Not nearly as scary as trading Hamilton to obtain a pick in the top ten of the draft, only to take yet another defenseman - when you already have significant prospect depth at the position, and someone you hope turns out as good as Hamilton in about 5 years.

Asset management like that would be grounds for immediate dismissal IMO.

Sam Ersson would be my late round goalie pick if I had to make one.

Anyone I missed?

Linus Karlsson must be a Flame, if by the time we pick he's still there. If not, it's revolution time!
