It's looking like a nice draft for Sweden and Russia, not quite as good for Finland at least at the top. But obviously things can and will change during the next 12 months. Should be some good opportunities for some skilled Euros if they wish to go that route.

Or just #fallinfordahlin :sarcasm:

This team really chose the wrong year to **** the bed

They barely even **** the bed, this is the year we really **** the bed, it's a good thing

#Fallin4Dahlin
#SlackingOff4Svechnikov

To be honest I think lil Svech is gonna be the best winger in the league, so I'm all about him. Let's see how this year plays out and see if either pulls away from the other.

Really? I know absolutely nothing about him, just seemed like the hype was more for having two brothers. If he's that good, then maybe I'll rethink my no-wingers-ever stance.

I still think Dahlin has to be the pick (as of right now), on a team this bereft of defensemen, if you have the choice, but maybe I've badly underestimated Andrei.

He really has it all, skating ability, IQ/vision, playmaking ability, quick shot, hands, compete level - he's being called the best Russian prospect since Malkin, that's crazy high praise.

Here's a short highlight reel

He wears both 7 and 14 for Russia in different clips

Khovanov is another name to add to the list.

Calling Svechnikov the best prospect since Malkin isn't setting the bar as is seems, there has been only 1 top 5 Russian pick since Malkin, and it was Yakupov.

What he did in the USHL at his age is what is more impressive than anything.

Those would be nice, but to be honest, I don't see either in Detroit.

Akil Thomas is a good player. I like Dellandrea better, no offense.

Big centers from Europe: Olofsson and Kotkaniemi

Interested to hear opinions on Jack McBain.

Jack McBain:
6 '4 200+ lbs
Scouts have said he's a better skating Vilardi.
Really hurt by playing in a sub par league (OJHL)
Would love to see him playing in Barrie with Suzuki, Shvechnikov and others.
He can't play there- Barrie (committed to BC, in NCAA)
IMO best Ontario Forward. Not sure VS. US/WHL/QMJHL forwards.
Needs to dominate at Hockey Canada Camps (if invited) and during season to go high. I feel top 15.

Ha yea, I guess I didn't think that hard into it. He certainly was impressive this year, basically top ten pick production at 16. I remember reading an article about the first time Andrei came over from Russia to see his brother when he was 14, they attended a fitness camp together with kids ranging from 17-20 and the coach running it said he was the best player there. Curious to see if he goes to Barrie next season.

Really? That's pretty awesome. I think he's one of those elite winger prospects like Laine where you can take him over centers and defenseman (except Dahlin) without even pausing.

I wish we could just fast forward the upcoming season. It's going to be ugly and it seems we'll end up with someone exciting. I really hope Holland does a purge at the deadline and gets some extra picks. Gus,Tatar,green...get something.

Thanks for the info. I have known about him by name, but I didn't know much about him. Is there any chance that he accelerates to BC next year or jumps to Barrie?

I believe he is committed to BC to enter in 2018 (true freshman)
At least that's what it says on College Hockey Inc.
I think Barrie still has his rights, but playing there is most likely a long shot. USHL is another option as Lincoln drafted him 2016.

It could mean nothing, but he is playing in a summer league along side current Colts players. There still might be a chance he ends up there. Barrie could be a fun team to watch if he reports, playing with Svechnikov, Lipanov and Suzuki.

Also, not sure where he's rated, but it would be cool to draft Martin Lapointe's kid. Univ. of Michigan commit. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=283917

Jack McCain? You mean McBain?
Looks like lots of centre's.....
What did the head scout have to say that would lead you to this list?
