I don't get this people acting like they knew Hall would win a Hart. When he was traded he wasn't the player he is now, Congrats to Hall for the Hart he deserves it and Devils fans for winning that trade but at the time it wasn't that lopsided.

It’s lopsided now. McDavid and Hall would’ve been your winning ticket. Should’ve kept Hall.

The Town Fun Forgot
Does anyone out there know who was named to the post season first and second all-star teams?

I understand that there wasn't anything in such a rivetting show that could have been cut to allow for this information to be released.

One thing to consider in Halls favour too is that Mackinnon had a better supporting cast, at least for forwards, with Ratanen and Landeskog. To me that slightly favours Hall.

Yup. Palmieri was hurt quite a lot this year. Johansson was hurt a hell of a lot and dealt with two concussions.

Bratt was a 19 year old rookie and he just didn't have the stamina to keep his start going later on in the season.

Hischier was an 18 year old rookie and apparently, while not missing a game and being the only Devil to play all 82 games, was playing with a wrist injury for most of the season.

Hall was playing on a PP at one point that had both Zajac and Boyle on his PP unit.

Damn super close

70 votes is "super close"?

7 votes is "super close".

70? Somewhat-comfortable lead.

Not exactly "Justified"-level(Horses...triple-crown..reference) but I wasn't expecting the margin to be THAT wide.

In fact, I was expecting MacKinnon to win. So happy for this development 'cause Chiarelli basically traded The League MVP for Adam Larsson.:lol::lol::lol:

It's super clear that everyone here hates the award show, every year the thread is exactly the same. Wouldn't be easier to just do something else and just check twitter every few minutes or just wake up in the morning and see who won?

It was incredibly lopsided at the time, and still would be regardless if Hall had won the Hart or not.

By no means am I a devils fan or a Hall fan, but he deserved it. Being a local team I watched them a fair amount, and he absolutely carried that team. He's found another gear in NJ for sure.

A few interesting facts about this Hart race:
  • Hall and MacKinnon placed 1st and 2nd. This is the first time either player has received any Hart votes in their career.
  • I've mentioned this before, but it's so unique it bears repeating - this is the first time since 1949-50 that none of the top three scorers were finalists for the Hart.
  • Going back to 1946-47, this is the 8th closest Hart trophy race (out of the 71 that have taken place).
  • Malkin now ranks 15th in (normalized/adjusted) career Hart trophy votes earned.
  • Going back to 1947-48, this is only the 3rd time a forward has won the Hart while finishing outside of the top five in scoring. (The other two were Ted Kennedy in 1955, and Bobby Clarke in 1975).

Need to move the awards elsewhere now that Vegas has a team.. The Vegas bias showed tonight.

Engylund is a joke. Mcphee over Chevy who actually built a real team without help from the NHL deserved GM.

I was more stunned that Ray Shero ended up at 7th place in GM of the Year.

You would think that someone who ended up with the League MVP (Hall) in exchange for a solid-yet-unspectacular Defenseman (Larsson), would be a bit HIGHER on the list instead of friggin' 7th place!!

Again where was everyone saying the league rigged it so Vegas would be a super team right after the expansion draft took place? The hindsight on these takes is absurd.

You implied that the league handed McPhee a great team when that is entirely untrue. Nobody was saying that at the time of the expansion draft and he absolutely deserved the award.

I didnt imply shit.. A buffalo fan.. Oh boy.. Not gonna go there tho...

He didn't deserve it.. Gallant did cuz he took that team of scrubs and made it work. Mcphee was GIVEN Fleury March Smith Haula Tuch Theodore.. He didnt choose them.. He was given them. Take them away.. Where is Vegas... ? He didn't pick them.. He was GIVEN them.
