I didn't bother adding anyone to the poll since there were already 10 choices, and I really can't see someone voting in Rooney or Popugayev into the top 20.

we’re wandering into “who the **** knows at this point?” tuuurrrrratory
Frankly, I find it astounding that we're this far into the polls and there are still choices that, to me, have at least a glimmer of hope to make the big leagues. Hellickson had glowing reviews, Schmid could work out, Maltsev and Sharangovich are well regarded, Chainey and Gignac show potential, and Bernard could have been a steal. It wouldn't be surprising if at least one of them eventually make it.

Some of those older lists are really really rough.

Severson, Santini, and Kink the only ones still here from 2013.

Merrill the only one outside the organization playing at the NHL level.

2015 list has Zacha, Santini, Coleman, and Wood as NHLers. JQ, Blackwood, and Speers with the chance of becoming regulars still. So that is a better list.

Thanks for posting the links - interesting to look back and see how the prospects were ranked.

Blake Coleman's position is interesting as well - was 18th in 2013, up to 7th in 2015 and dropped back down to 19th in 2016 before not appearing in last year's poll (too old?).

I'm surprised he made it up to 7th. I always viewed him as another attempted Madden replacement kinda like Scottie Pellerin. A ho-hum grinder for a checking line, but who couldn't score like Madden. He made the team out of nowhere last year. It gives me hope for a lot of the other prospects we have.

I liked Coleman as a prospect and thought he had a good shot of making the team last year. He still certainly exceeded expectations.

Its because we're awful at making these lists. The 2013 list has two NHLers that weren't even ranked in the top 20. That doesn't include Coleman at 18 which you must have missed.

I don't think this is because 'we're awful at making the list' - the two players in question are Kerfoot, who had a shoulder injury and missed most of the 2012-13 season, and Miles Wood, who was playing high school hockey at the time. We can only go on the information we have.

Oh, wow. That 2013 one was BRUTAL! Merrill and Boucher rounding out the top 2. Only Severson and Santini are left at all from the top 10. Urbom tied for 6th. Matteau rounding out the top 5? Helgeson at 14th? Coleman was at 18th, which is pretty funny now. Kinkaid is the only other one still here.

2015 was still kind of funny. Helgeson still at 14th, frickin Kalinin (WUT?!) tied for 15th with Kerfoot. I'm surprised Miles Wood wasn't higher than 11th in 2015.

Matteau is just too devoid of skill. Can’t score at all. 7 points and 4 goals in 64 career NHL games. Just not good enough. Just doesn’t do enough to justify that gaunt stat line. Helgeson was pretty much in line with Mark Fraser and Pete Harrold. Really beyond useless. Boucher is too slow and doesn’t score enough at the NHL level. Merrill is okay, but he’s just painfully average.
