Miller for me. He's big, fast, and has only played a few seasons as a defensemen so his ceiling could wind up a lot higher than his piers. And he's an LHD so if we don't pick a guy like Hughes at #7 (and in this mock we do end up with another RHD at #8 in Bouchard), it'd make sense to pick a LHD at #27.

Miller pretty easily for me as well. As I'll soon post in my rankings, I have him right up there with the other big D this year.

Another for Miller. If he happens to be there I think you swing for the fences.

wow, look at that...Tkachuk at 4 and Wahlstrom at 5...WTF do I know right??? Same shit I have been saying will happen for months.

went with Wise, want nothing to do with Miller in the first round any longer...but damn Samuelsson and Sandin still there?? shit, might have to switch to one of those guys, yikes not seeing either around at #27

Congrats on getting a mock draft right! :thumbu:

Why did you sour on Miller? Most seem high on him.

We all know MB is going to f*** this draft up and change everything.

hey, people keep telling me one of these two will be available at #8...I have been saying that just isn't likely going to happen and when these teams fan bases vote on it and know what their team typically wants/needs especially in the top 10, it sucks to not get one of these kids...

And who is MB??

I think one of QH, BT, or OW will fall to the Hawks.

I would argue that most don't know what is going on with their team as well as you think.

I am hoping for any of that to happen, just not seeing it. And if Mr. French Failure himself picks anyone but Zadina, Wahlstrom, or Tkachuk - fire his ass right then and there...don't over think a top 3 pick on need...never ever do that.

his upstairs just doesn't work most nights.

stupid mistakes, bad positioning, just a lot of issues for the kid. mental mistakes for a player scare me off regardless of being raw. he has been playing defense for 3 years not 3 months, he needs to be better at his decision making and the quickness in the way he makes his decisions. he has a lot of skill, his skating is excellent, he is physical as well, but I don't think his IQ will catch up to him which will make for a lot of problems. I hope I am wrong and he gets it, he is a real nice and personable kid, just makes too many mistakes for a 1st round pick for me.

3 years is really not that long...

My upstairs doesn't work most nights.

To be honest, I didn't know much about Dobson for pick#8, and IMO if it fell this way it would be tough to choose between Dobson, Bouchard and Kotkaniemi for me.
On to pick #27, Miller is the pick for me as most of my other targets for that pick(Bokk, McLeod, Merkley) are off the board. Alexeyev would also be an option, but I think they'd rather go for the North American than the Russian.

If Hawk's go forward with 8, I would be pleased with Sandin @27.
Have only seen him in the OHL playoffs a couple times but really impressed me with his overall game.
Great skater, IQ, passing....seems like a full toolbox which he can open and use.
Would be nice if he was bigger and meaner but makes up for it positionally.

Merkley, screams high end offense but will require extra 1-2 yrs to get defensively where you want him to be. If patient and he wants to put forth the effort, could be Blue Ribbon for sure.
