From what I've read on here, K'Andre Miller is a good fit at 25.

I thought it was very, very open at this part of the draft. Maybe after the first 10 picks or so. Just went with Woo cause I can't get over his name.

Having a REALLY tough time deciding between Lundestrom and Addison. I feel like we could trade back a few picks and still get Addison who IMO could be the steal of this draft, but I also really really like Lundestrom.

There's little to no separation in a handful of the remaining picks.

For me, it came down to Groulx, Miller, Noel & Dellandrea.

I've only seen a handful of these guys actually play, so my judgement is based off reading scouting reports, watching the youtube highlight videos and listening to guys like Marek, Cosentiono & McKenzie about some players.

It will be interesting to see what Dubas and co do with their draft.

Lundestrom being available here is a steal IMO
100%. I've written him off as a want for us because I thought there wasn't a chance but maybe there is a long shot for him...Would be huge, BPA and a C which is a big organizational need.

I'm a huge Miller fan-boy but I think you have to take Lundestrom if he's still on the board

Lundestrom is a C, has already played 2 years in the SHL and is ranked above our draft slot by almost every reputable ranking source.

Upside is forecast to be a 2-3 NHL center with a decent shot and solid defence but his overall offensive upside is the big worry or so ive read.

Gotta take the gamble if he's still there at 25 IMO.

McLeod would have been my pick hands down if he fell one more.

I would be considering Lundeström, Olofsson, Sandin, or Miller here. Went with Olofsson, Sandin is from the Sault so I wonder if Dubas can get more intel on him from his old guys back on the Greyhounds.

I voted Miller for 2 reasons

With this quick learning curve, many analysts are now questioning exactly how high his ceiling can be.

2nd
Skating

Miller is an outstanding skater. His stride seems almost effortless but generates very good speed in both directions. He can rush the puck up the ice, or pinch at the blue line and still get back defensively. Miller has very good acceleration as he reaches that top speed very quickly. His edgework, pivots, and agility are top notch. Miller changes direction effortlessly. He also can make quick cuts, as well as transition quickly from offence to defence and vice-versa. Miller has a strong lower body. He is tough to knock off the puck. His balance and power are also effective in winning battles on the boards, and in clearing the front of the net.
I think our development team and coaches can mine this gem.

Why are so many people voting Woo? I mean I love the wu-tang clan too, but cool name aside, I don't see the upside.

Just doing some studying for the first time now...
Dang, is Kandre Miller ever enticing...
Sounds like a Colton parakyo/Darnell nurse/Ekholm style.. needs time, but those two way bruisers are invaluable..

*I'm in no way claiming I want to pick Jett Woo at 25.

The reasons why I believe he is a good draft pick at our spot is because he might be the best defensive defenseman in the draft, shoots right, and doesn't have any weaknesses. He was rising up draft boards for the first half of the season because not only was he showing off his elite defensive ability, but he was also better than average offensively to back that up. Problem happened when he didn't only have one concussion, but two, along with other injuries. When he came back he was a completely different player, and instead of looking like a mid-1st round pick he began to look like a guy who shouldn't even be taken in the 2nd. His offensive production + ability dried up, and he wasn't ++ defensively anymore. Really shows what concussions can do to guys.

Some people don't realize he had this season, love the name and position, and heard good things earlier in the year and decided he's their guy. Other's believe he is actually the 1st half guy who was trending up, and think he's a great bounce-back candidate coming into next season. Other's (like me) think he's good enough to be taken at #25 if we believe he can be that guy, but would much prefer taking a flier on him in the 2nd as we believe there's guys with much greater upside/floor at the spot.

Miller is enticing going through the NCAA route also. Retaining his rights on 4 years for a guy that may need some seasoning isn't a bad idea.

Yeah but the leafs have swung for parayko type defensemen enough in the last few drafts honestly. It's probably time to look at other types of players

Swinging at a paryko in the first round vs swinging in the third round is much much different odds.
Id agree with you, I'm done with swinging at big defenseman in the third - seventh round.

I'll happily swing at Miller in the first round though.

Eh. The only reason i'd consider him a Parayko-type is because he's raw, has insane tools, and doesn't have any weaknesses.

He's way ahead of Parayko at the same age.

I just saw this, but you people would be awful scouts.

The same people that complain about the Gauthier pick chose Gauthier 2.0 over Jake Wise?

Edit: Miller was on there too and you guys picked Lundestrom?

Insane.
