I'd like to see the A's take it but how can they stop: Stanton ,Judge,
Torres, Andujar, Gregorious Mcutchen
I can't see it ..

They may have to fight fire with fire. Oakland may have to win it in the style of Giambi-Tejada-Chavez: outslug them and hope that if they score 7, you score 8

yeah it'll absolutely take 6+ runs for the A's to win this game

and hope that going with an all out bullpen game doesn't come back to haunt them. starting a guy who was DFA'd a few months doesn't exactly make me feel confident

I like the A's but I want to see Yankees Red Sox again

Need to bring that feud back for massive ratings

Funny, none of those guys have more homers than Khris Davis.

Piscotty, Lowrie, Olson and Chapman all hit over 20, too

Which is why the A’s might have to fight fire with fire. The A’s have plenty of guys that can hit dingers, and in this ballpark, they might have to match the Yanks HR for HR.

Plus, if last night’s WC game was the pitcher’s duel, tonight has the feel of a slugfest

nothing surprising

sanchez catching could be a huge plus for the A's if they can get guys on base

Sanchez IMHO is the wild card (no pun intended) of this game considering what happened the last time he was catching against Oakland and his erratic hitting.

Picking the Yankees, even though I want Oakland to win. Although I hate this bullpen game BS in the playoffs, so I won't be disappointed if it goes horribly for OAK. If that makes any sense.

Simple. The Yankees have a game where none/one of those guys hit homers. It's happened a bunch this year.

It's a scary offense but it's extremely one-dimensional.

Who led the league in Sac Flies? Asking for a friend.

Sac flies aren't exactly small ball. They're missed homeruns. The team with more homers than any other team hit fly balls more than any other team. I'm f***ing flabbergasted.

The Yankees were 16th in BA, 25th in stolen bases, 12th in avg with RISP, 16th in hits, 16th in doubles, and 23rd in triples.

They completely live and die by the homerun. How are you even arguing against that notion? It's like arguing that Judge isn't tall.

You can root for this team, and even think this team will win the WS, and still admit that this team does one thing well offensively. Because that's who they are, and everyone not sticking their head in the sand knows it.

They did it better than any team in MLB history, but it's still the only thing they do.

They set the all time team record in Homeruns, and we're gonna complain that they score too many of their runs via the long ball...

I'd say we got bigger issues
All or nothing approach to manufacturing runs. IIRC, no team in history scored more than 50% of their runs from the long ball besides the 2018 Yankees. This is not a recipe for success against elite pitchers who have low HR rates.

Not only do the Yankees score more than 50% via the homerun, but essentially one player (Andujar) is doing the bulk of that other 49%.
