  • Quote 1: USAToday.com – Kyle Woodlief, “Gendron played at Rivers School, which is not even a powerhouse among New England prep schools. He is still a fish out of water in his own end, but when he has the puck on his stick, watch out! He accelerates and goes end-to-end faster than anyone in this class not named DeAngelo. Regarding his defensive game, which is clearly a work in progress after only one year, we like to put it this way: He’s like a male driver who refuses to ask for directions — hopelessly lost, but making great time!”
  • Quote 2: Boston Herald–Former NHLer and Rivers Academy Coach Shawn McEachern, “Most of the NHL scouts say he’s a 5 skater, as high-end as there is, He could break the puck out by himself. He can just fly. He’s really smooth, fast, and the main thing is he plays with his head up when he skates. He stands out because he sees the ice so well. He’s so elusive, teams try to get in and forecheck him, but he can get away and get up the ice in a hurry.”
  • Quote 3: Penticton Western News – Emanuel Sequeira, “Gendron played last season in Massachusetts for Rivers School and skates effortlessly with his 6-2, 81 kilogram frame and has high-end skill. His potential piqued the interest of several junior teams as he’s ranked 74th by NHL Central Scouting for the 2014 NHL draft. Gendron was named the Independent School League’s 2013-14 MVP, won the league Sportmanship award and was named a league all-star.”
  • Quote 4: CSNNNE.com– Joe Haggerty, “He’s got a chance. He’s an NHL skater right now. He’s a ridiculous skater. The con is that he’s playing at Rivers, and he’s such a dynamic skater that he’s got so much time to make plays right now. He’s got such great wheels that he’s got 5, 6 or 7 seconds to make plays with the puck because he’s that much further ahead of everybody else.”

This is imo the biggest prospect we've been ingnoring, looked good in the prospect scrimmage and AMAZING in the 3 on 3.

Quote from SensProspects from this years Dev Camp. Sounds like he stuiggled in his Junior year (3rd) at UConn. Those are all pretty early quotes you posted. I had heard he struggled last year
Coming off a poor season with Connecticut (NCAA), I thought Miles Gendron gave a good showing this week at what will probably be his last dev camp with the Sens. Drafted in the 3rd round back in 2014, Gendron is a converted forward who regressed a bit this past year. UConn had a strong D corps, but it was surprising to see him healthy scratched a few times, and he played at least a dozen games as a 4th line winger. His skating has always been highly touted, and it shone through at camp – more so than in any of his previous trips to town. (His most noteworthy moment at last year’s camp was getting high sticked, losing teeth, taking a penalty shot and then leaving the game for repairs.) Gendron was recently named UConn’s captain for his senior season with the Huskies, so I wouldn’t expect the benchings or time at forward to continue.

2017-18 (Junior Season): Appeared in 33 games… Posted a career high 33 shots on goal… Had a career-high eight assists on the season… Tallied nine points total (1g/8a)… Blocked 15 shots… Picked up two assists in UConn’s 5-1 win at Maine (Oct. 7)… Scored his only goal of the season when the Huskies fell to Vermont, 2-4 (Nov. 4)… Recorded an assist in the 3-2 defeat over New Hampshire (Jan. 27)… Had an assist on the second goal of the night at Northeastern on the way to a 4-2 victory (Feb. 9).
2016-17 (Sophomore Season): Played in all 36 games...Posted career-high points (11), goals (4) and assists (7)...Was second on the team in scoring among defensemen...Finished the season a +7, third on the team and among UConn defensemen...Blocked 22 shots...Scored his first goal of the season in a 2-2 tie at UMass (Nov. 4)...Had a goal in a 4-3 win over No. 18 St. Cloud State at the Desert Hockey Classic (Dec. 30)...Scored in the Huskies’ season ending loss in the playoffs at Northeastern (Mar. 4)...Had a stretch of four-straight games with a point, with assists at UMass Lowell (Dec. 2), at home vs. UMass Lowell (Dec. 3), vs. UMass (Dec. 9) and vs. St. Cloud State (Dec. 30).
2015-16 (Freshman Season): Appeared in 27 games as a rookie…Finished the season with six points on two goals and four assists…Was third among UConn defensemen in scoring…Ranked fifth among the team’s rookies in scoring…Finished with an even rating on the season…Blocked 19 shots…Scored his first collegiate goal in his first career game at Alabama Huntsville (Oct. 10)…Scored the Huskies lone goal in a 2-1 home loss to Notre Dame (Oct. 31)…Picked-up assists in back-to-back games at No. 5 UMass Lowell (Dec. 6) and at home against No. 19 Merrimack (Dec. 11).

He's not really an NHL prospect, he looks like a fish out of water aside from his skating

Caught up with Drake this past weekend at a halifax rink. Said summer was going great. Skating with Jill Plandowski again. On the ice with the pro group of Nova Scotians a few times.
Take a look at Jills Twitter account or pro edge gyms to see a few videos of him training along with some other guys.

Don’t think I’ve ever saw Ceci make a simple smart pass like this in his life.

Not entirely sure I see that as simple. He made a really nice play to carry that low, which stressed the D and allowed space in the high slot. Ceci (and many other D) stay up at the blueline and dump that puck to the corner. Wolanin has very nice offensive instincts, changed levels and made a beauty pass. I worry that he'll get bumped in the order for Boro, which would be a mistake imo. I think Wolanin will have some wrinkles to iron out defensively, but he has potential to be a nice middle pair D imo.

Cuz cecis partners all suck and the forwards always suck when he’s on and he’s playing against top comp.

Give him an all star partner super star forwards and bottom of the barrel competition.. you’ll see him make some nice plays from time to time just you wait and see

Ahl
Perron
Gagne
Summers
Gendron
Eiserman

Any hope for any of these guys?

I would not be surprised if Gagne is the only one still with the organization after next season.

Ahl, Perron, Gendron and Eiserman all need to show significant improvement if they want to earn a contract after this season. Gagne could merely repeat his previous season and he will be retained, although probably on a last-look contract.

Summers is getting closer and closer to free agency, although if we sign him I think he has definite NHL upside.

Eiserman and Summers have been let go, weren’t signed to an ELC

Perron is my rebound prospect this year, thinking the coaching change can do him some good. He has to stay healthy though, but he has the ability to establish himself as a very good AHL player

Gendron seems to have not enough hockey sense to be a good pro. Sucks because he has NHL skating. Don’t think he’ll be signed after his college career

Ahl, I haven’t followed him much because many think he doesn’t have NHL potential

Gagne is the best prospect in that group, a very long term project though. Last year was his first pro year that he was able to play at that level, let’s see how he does this year. If he puts it all together, could be an excellent player because he has very intriguing NHL qualities. His shot is deadly

Gagne is a natural shooter, likely the only one left in the org chart since Hoffman's departure. And he is still a project.

Love Tkachuk, but Zadina would've definitely filled a big void in the depth chart.

The team needed more puck possession guys. For the 2017-2018 season, the team would be one and done after entering the offensive zone. Ottawa rarely sustained an offensive attack. More puck possession means more shots, and more shots means more goals.Improved possession would not only help solve our goal scoring woes, but also keep down opposition scoring as well. Brady is a possession demon.

Ottawa somehow was terrible on the power play, penalty kill and possession last season. If we can make two of those a positive, it go along way in keeping us from bottom feeding.

Does anyone know if the summer showcase will be televised? I wanna watch some Tkachuk, Gruden, Bernard-Docker and Formenton.

Yup, once the tournament proper starts on thursday, the games will be on TSN. Don't know if this weekend's pre-tournament games will be streamed online, but they don't appear to be on the TSN schedule.

Apologies for ignorance but what is the Summer Showcase?

I must have a gap in the old memory today.

It's a tournament for U20 players featuring Canada, the States, Finland and Sweden. Canada and the US each start with two teams, then trim down to one after a few split-squad games. It's used to evaluate players for the World Juniors. TSN broadcasts the games starting Thursday, so it's a chance to see Tkachuk, Formenton, Gruden and JBD, unless they get scratched. Also Shane Bowers, hopefully he sucks :sarcasm:
