- Quote 1: USAToday.com – Kyle Woodlief, “Gendron played at Rivers School, which is not even a powerhouse among New England prep schools. He is still a fish out of water in his own end, but when he has the puck on his stick, watch out! He accelerates and goes end-to-end faster than anyone in this class not named DeAngelo. Regarding his defensive game, which is clearly a work in progress after only one year, we like to put it this way: He’s like a male driver who refuses to ask for directions — hopelessly lost, but making great time!”
- Quote 2: Boston Herald–Former NHLer and Rivers Academy Coach Shawn McEachern, “Most of the NHL scouts say he’s a 5 skater, as high-end as there is, He could break the puck out by himself. He can just fly. He’s really smooth, fast, and the main thing is he plays with his head up when he skates. He stands out because he sees the ice so well. He’s so elusive, teams try to get in and forecheck him, but he can get away and get up the ice in a hurry.”
- Quote 3: Penticton Western News – Emanuel Sequeira, “Gendron played last season in Massachusetts for Rivers School and skates effortlessly with his 6-2, 81 kilogram frame and has high-end skill. His potential piqued the interest of several junior teams as he’s ranked 74th by NHL Central Scouting for the 2014 NHL draft. Gendron was named the Independent School League’s 2013-14 MVP, won the league Sportmanship award and was named a league all-star.”
- Quote 4: CSNNNE.com– Joe Haggerty, “He’s got a chance. He’s an NHL skater right now. He’s a ridiculous skater. The con is that he’s playing at Rivers, and he’s such a dynamic skater that he’s got so much time to make plays right now. He’s got such great wheels that he’s got 5, 6 or 7 seconds to make plays with the puck because he’s that much further ahead of everybody else.”
This is imo the biggest prospect we've been ingnoring, looked good in the prospect scrimmage and AMAZING in the 3 on 3.
Coming off a poor season with Connecticut (NCAA), I thought Miles Gendron gave a good showing this week at what will probably be his last dev camp with the Sens. Drafted in the 3rd round back in 2014, Gendron is a converted forward who regressed a bit this past year. UConn had a strong D corps, but it was surprising to see him healthy scratched a few times, and he played at least a dozen games as a 4th line winger. His skating has always been highly touted, and it shone through at camp – more so than in any of his previous trips to town. (His most noteworthy moment at last year’s camp was getting high sticked, losing teeth, taking a penalty shot and then leaving the game for repairs.) Gendron was recently named UConn’s captain for his senior season with the Huskies, so I wouldn’t expect the benchings or time at forward to continue.
He's not really an NHL prospect, he looks like a fish out of water aside from his skatingvia: thehockeywriters.com

Major props to SensProspects, as per usual.

Eiserman and Summers have been let go, weren’t signed to an ELC
Perron is my rebound prospect this year, thinking the coaching change can do him some good. He has to stay healthy though, but he has the ability to establish himself as a very good AHL player
Gendron seems to have not enough hockey sense to be a good pro. Sucks because he has NHL skating
Ahl, I haven’t followed him much because many think he doesn’t have NHL potential
Gagne is the best prospect in that group, a very long term project though. Last year was his first pro year that he was able to play at that level, let’s see how he does this year. If he puts it all together, could be an excellent player because he has very intriguing NHL qualities. His shot is deadly

The team needed more puck possession guys. For the 2017-2018 season, the team would be one and done after entering the offensive zone. Ottawa rarely sustained an offensive attack. More puck possession means more shots, and more shots means more goals.Improved possession would not only help solve our goal scoring woes, but also keep down opposition scoring as well. Brady is a possession demon.
Ottawa somehow was terrible on the power play, penalty kill and possession last season. If we can make two of those a positive, it go along way in keeping us from bottom feeding.
Does anyone know if the summer showcase will be televised? I wanna watch some Tkachuk, Gruden, Bernard-Docker and Formenton.

Apologies for ignorance but what is the Summer Showcase?
I must have a gap in the old memory today.
