You showed the same "indifference" in the offseason when Trotz was available. For no reason at all you pretend Q is an impossibility.

You aren't indifferent.

Do you think there is a single coach in the league who is better than Hakstol? I can't help but notice you fear this question.

Islanders are 5-7-2 their last 14 games, despite solid goaltending from both goalies.
Maybe the Trotz miracle has run its course and talent will out?

Is there a single "available" coach (who you don't have to give a 4 year deal right now) other than Q who is better than Hakstol?
Because that's our next HC.

Good games against the worst defensive team in the league don't matter as much as good games against top teams.
The numbers are what they are, I notice Voracek's supporters blithely ignore them.

Wait, do you think 5-7-2 is bad for that roster? That's hilarious. They should be beneath us. The real difference is coaching.

Don't dodge my question, it makes you look terrified. Do you think there is a single coach in the NHL who is better than Hakstol?

This is what we saw with Carter, and with Couturier for ages.

What’s funny is that the Couturier hate was people who were too impatient and couldn’t see that a lack of scoring in present day doesn’t mean a lack of scoring in the future as he continues to develop (same thing we’re seeing with Patrick... people just don’t learn).

With Voracek, he HAS a proven record of scoring both in present day and in the past, so the ridiculous hate he gets makes even less sense.

It just comes down to poor player evaluation and lacking hockey knowledge.

The real difference is goaltending.
Griess .918, Lehner .913.
We'd kill for that.

No, it isn't. Even when Hakstol has good goaltending he drives them into the dirt and still gets blown apart in the playoffs. There is no roster that Hakstol can't find a way to misuse. Trotz is getting better results across the board with a lesser roster. And you are aware that goalie performance can easily be impacted by what's happening in front of them, yes?

You love to credit Hakstol for Ghost and Provorov being good because of his guidance. Surely then, you must be logically consistent and blame him for all the shortcomings you people have been on about?

When has Hakstol had good goaltending?
One season, 2015-16, with Simmonds (39), Giroux (38), Schenn (37), Voracek (32), Couts (31), Raffl (29) as your ES point leaders.
Read, Gagner, Laughton, Umberger was the third line, VdV, PEB, White was the 4th line
the defense, MDZ, Streit, Ghost, Gudas, Medvedev/MacDonald, Schultz, L Schenn/Manning

There have been stretches where Elliott and Neuvirth individually played well, and guess what? They still lost games because going into a shell and getting your goalies bombed blows leads.

Wonderful. Pickard has started 8 games for this franchise. The topic was clearly over Hakstol’s entire tenure. 27-whatever. I’ve lost count.

Outside of Mason in 2015-16 (and he went belly up in the playoffs, Neuvirth almost pulled it out), Flyers haven't had great goalie play.
2015-16: 5x5, Flyers 13th in SC S%, 20th in HD S%

Whatever cherry picked stuff this is, the Flyers are 13th in 5v5 save % in the 3 full seasons of Hakstol as head coach. This season is still early, and it's arguable this is the hardest goalie situation he's dealt with, though it's early for the statistical sample. Again, Elliott has been respectable this year. No one thinks Pickard isn't trash, and he's been a major drag on those stats.

You asked, not confined to this year, "When has Hakstol had good goaltending?" I answered that his goaltending at 5v5 has been fine. 13th in 3 years with this goalie situation. It's the PK -- which is likely his baby as head coach -- that drags down the goaltending. It gets tough to absolve him, I know.

time to move Sanheim on to PP1, Ghost to PP2, and give Provy less minutes to rest and focus on PK.
