Ice your idea forward & defensive group.

Schwartz - O'Reilly - Tarasenko
Steen - Schenn - Perron
Fabbri - Bozak - Kyrou
Barbashev - Thomas - Soshnikov

Edmondson - Pietrangelo
Gunnarsson - Parayko
Bouwmeester - Bortuzzo

I'm a little sad we weren't able to make a bigger push for a guy like Pacioretty, but Perron will have to do.

I'm hoping Vince Dunn was an oversight on your part.

I can't see them separating Schenn and Schwartz. Too much chemistry there. And Thomas will probably start on wing with Kyrou in San Antonio. No way do they put him on the 4th line.

Thomas can't play in San Antonio. He'll almost certainly be with us

Schwartz - Schenn - Tarasenko
Fabbri - O'Reilly - Perron
Steen - Bozak - Thomas
Soshnikov - Barbashev - Jaskin

Edmundson - Pietrangelo
Bouwmeester - Parayko
Dunn - Bortuzzo

Press box:
Gunnarsson, Thorburn, Sanford

AHL:
Sundqvist, Blais

I don't want to break up the Schenn and Schwartz Show.
I love our Russian 4th line.
I like Dunn with Bortuzzo, but not with Parayko. Parayko isn't as offensive minded playing with Dunn IMO.

Any particular reason you want to seperate Schwartz and Schenn?

I'm thinking those lines as well. I'm pretty curious to see what the 4th line can do if it's those three guys. Could be a real fun line to watch.

I could see guys like Blais or Sanford making the team too but I think they’re better off getting ice in SA than sitting in the press box (assuming everyone is healthy). Bozak and Thomas are interchangeable.

I didn't say that, but after reading my post, I can see where my sentence structure could be taken to play Thomas with Kyrou in SA. To clarify, only Kyrou in SA. Thomas has nothing to gain if he's sent back to juniors.

I am going to post this lineup which is designed to have RHS on all but the 4th line.

Perron - O'Reilly - Tarasenko
Schwartz - Schenn - Bozak
Steen - Thomas - Fabbri
Jaskin - Barbashev - Soshnikov
I'm giddy that we have so many RHS finally

There's so many possibilities I don't even know where to begin lol. I like the idea of O'Reilly with Vladdy to spread out the scoring a bit, if they don't gel after awhile reunite the SchwarSchenko line. Love the idea of a Steen-Thomas-Bozak third line too. Fabbri might need to be eased into the lineup to shake off the rust but hopefully he can contribute right away.

Fabbri-O'Reilly-Tarasenko
Schwartz-Schenn-Perron
Steen-Thomas-Bozak
Jaskin-Barbashev-Soshnikov

If one of Kyrou or Blais or whoever deserve to be in the lineup then it gets interesting, where are we going to put all these guys?

If Allen can find consistency to his game we got a good a shot as anybody for a cup run if we make it to the playoffs, and we most certainly should.

posted this in another thread. We basically need one of Kyrou or Fabbri to be a top 6 quality player IMO. Well I say need but we really don’t because Fabbri at 50% is still 3rd line

Fabbri plays top 6 and Kyrou in AHL
Schwartz Schenn Perron
Fabbri ROR Tarasenko
Steen Bozak Thomas
Soshnikov Barbashev Jaskin

Fabbri is 3rd line caliber and Kyrou is in AHL
Schwartz Schenn Perron
Steen ROR Tarasenko
Fabbri Bozak Thomas
Soshnikov Barbashev Jaskin

Kyrou breaks out and Fabbri is average
Schwartz Schenn Kyrou
Perron ROR Tarasenko
Fabbri Bozak Thomas
Steen Barbashev Jaskin

Kyrou breaks out and Fabbri is old Fabbri
Schwartz Schenn Kyrou
Fabbri ROR Tarasenko
Perron Bozak Thomas
Steen Barbashev Jaskin

Dream Lineup

Schwartz Schenn Kyrou
Fabbri Thomas Tarasenko
Steen ROR Perron
Barbashev Bozak Jaskin

Matchup based line

Schwartz Schenn Thomas
Fabbri Bozak Tarasenko
Steen ROR Perron
Soshnikov Barbashev Jaskin

I like Perron on the left side more. He likes to come off of the boards or out of the corner from a cycle and shoot from the dot. Having him on the left as a right handed shot gives him a better angle and allows for one-timers. I also worry about Fabbri being in the top 6 like a lot of the lineups I see here. I think we'll shelter him early in the year, along with Thomas.

Perron - O'Reilly - Tarasenko
Schwartz - Schenn - Bozak
Steen - Thomas - Fabbri
Jaskin - Barbashev - Soshnikov

So, Blanick's lineup.

You could swap Steen and Fabbri, but I think Fabbri transitions better to RW than Steen.

Interesting take.

Can kind of see the Steen with ROR and Tarasenko.

Fabbri Thomas Bozak seems like an unlikely line given defensive deficiencies and general lack of NHL experience. I would anticipate we have our question mark guys of Fabbri Thomas and possibly Kyrou spread out so others can help them acclimate.

Kyrou on the fourth line seems as likely as this lineup.

Bortuzzo on the second pairing is scary enough let alone on his off side, not to mention Dunn on his offside. Would seem more likely to see JBo on his offside with dunn than the other way around.

I hadn't thought of this but I think I like it the most. I am in the camp of splitting up 91 from Schenn and Schwartz just to roll 2 very high end lines. My original would be...
Schwartz - Schenn - Fabbri
Perron - ROR - Tarasenko
Steen - Bozak - Thomas
Jaskin - Barbashev - Soshnikov

I would switch Thomas and Bozak at times to give Thomas a look at center but then maybe have to move some pieces around to correct wings etc

Just really comes down to:

Is Fabbri Robby Fabbri or is he a ghost of his former self.

Does Robert Thomas belong in the NHL? Is he able to manage the heavy lifting center duties or does he need some time on the wing?

Is Kyrou an NHLer already or does he need some time in the minors.

These three questions I believe will be answered easily in camp and preseason and will really give us an idea of what the opening lines look like. At this point there are too many variables to feel confident about the lines. However one thing I’m confident of is this forward group is far more talented and capable of providing offensive support for our back end and goalie than last years team ever dreamed of.

I’m confident Thomas is ready.

So the only question is can one of Fabbri/Kyrou/Blais/Sanford/Barbashev produce at a 3rd line level? I’d say yes, one of them will. And that’s literally all we need.

So I have no worries about our top 9.

We only really need 1 of these guys to be top 9. Any more is gravy.

Just think we should give our best players a shot at the top line to start the season and see how it goes. I think with ROR’s vision, having the best 2 wingers on either side of him would work. I’m not out for change though :p
