On defense with Weber out, unless there are trades, I don't see them putting Alzner/Benn/Schlemko in the AHL so that leaves likely 2 spots unless they carry 8 D which I don't think they will. If they carry 7 D, we have 5 plus say Mete/Juulsen unless they want them to get AHL time leaving Lernout, Ouellet, Despres, Valiev as guys that would be in the running.

if they sent Mete/Juulsen to the AHL to work on their offensive games, you could have a pretty solid defense in Laval once Weber was back from IR.

Mete Taorimna
Moravcik Juulsen
Sklenicka Fleury/Lernout
Plant

But too many bodies at forward until a trade.

If you have Pac with Danault, Domi with Drouin. Plus Gallagher with one of the two centers that leaves one top 6 spot between Scherbak, Byron, Hudon, Lehkonen, Arima.

Domi Drouin Gallagher
Pac Danault Scherbak
Lehkonen Pleks Armia
Hudon Peca Byron
DLO, DLR

That's too many bodies as Shaw will need a spot, so Pac or someone has to be traded.

Domi Drouin Gallagher
Hudon Danault Scherbak
Lehkonen Pleks Armia
Byron DLR/Peca Shaw
DLO, Peca/DLR

But I don't see them putting Scherbak in such a good spot.

Really they need to trade 2 wingers so that younger players can get more ice time.

Isn't Byron in the same medical ward as Shaw - out for the first few weeks of the season?

Bryon is slated to miss 4-6 games unless he has a setback. We should hear more as we get closer to the opener. Shaw could be a week or so after Byron. For Byron it's the shoulder but for Shaw the knee so I would guess he might take a little longer to get up speed as at least Bryon can skate in the 0ff-season.

Good job as usual Montreal. And I’m excited about:

Primeau
Brook
Romanov (there must have been a reason right)
Ylonen
Kotkaniemi
Oloffson
Hillis (dark horse)

And that’s about it. Yeesh. No left winger at all. Lol.

Man do Habs need another top three pick next year.

it's slated to be such a good draft year, we really need 2 top 10 picks next year and throw in a late 1st and I'll be happy.

I am very interested to see Primeau as he's going to be in tough to repeat those numbers but if he can be the starter for Team USA that would be a great experience for him.

Huge fan of Brook, I can't wait to see what Kotka/Ylonen do, expect a big year from Poehling. I like Fonstad and Hillis while Harris I'll get to see a lot of. Also looking forward to seeing the other NCAA Freshman, Gorniak and Stapley.

Waiting to see how they screw Scherbak over, hope to see Hudon, Lehkonen have big years, Peca and Reilly surprise.

Too many forwards, need to get rid of a few...

C
Philip Danault
Jacob De La Rose
Jonathan Drouin (C/LW)
Matthew Peca
Tomas Plekanec

RW
Joel Armia
Brendan Gallagher
Nikita Scherbak (LW/C/RW)
Paul Byron (LW/RW)
Andrew Shaw (C/RW)
Hunter Shinkaruk (RW/C)

LW
Tomas Tatar
Max Domi (LW/C)
Nicolas Deslauriers
Charles Hudon
Artturi Lehkonen (LW/RW)
Michael McCarron (C/LW)

Depth trades to playoff teams:
Nicolas Deslauriers - late pick
Andrew Shaw - if healthy, retain 30% and trade at 2.75m cap hit for mid-pick
Tomas Plekanec - deadline mid-pick
Paul Byron (LW/RW) - 2nd rounder +
Michael McCarron - late pick

Tried making the picks as realistic as possible, though Shaw might be untradeable at this point in his contract.

Ideal end of season lineup
Domi - Drouin - Gallagher
Tatar - Danault - Scherbak
Hudon - Peca - Lehkonen
Shinkaruk - De La Rose - Armia

Just awful.
