Time to give MacEwen a look with the big club.
Dahlen showing some courage going for a puck in the corner, gets crushed by one man wrecking crew Tangradi, who also broke Sautner's face with the elbow. Stays down. Heads off with trainer on shaky legs. Looks to be done.
Tangradi the Comet hunter...
Jimbo's prospects getting destroyed by AHL tough guys....
Eric Tangradi has now taken out Sautner and Dahlen; feeling unfettered and alive out there like Joni Mitchell...
He's not really a tough guy... Just a solid hard hitting player....which the comets do not have....
Darcy dekes out Blackwood for the tying marker on the feed from the ever overlooked Lukas Jasek...
Yeah, good point. He does play like one against the Comets as you say...
I'm surprised he wasn't suspended for the Sautner hit.Time to load up on goons for the rest of the season. Comet's have to answer this.
I think Joe Roberts mentioned he was back from a one game suspension for the hit in tonight's broadcast. That was ugly but tonight's hit on Dahlen was tough but fair I thought. But you're right, the Comets have zero toughness. I'm not expecting changes though...
*my guess is concussion on the Dahlen hit.
3-2 Comets on the wrister from Breezy. Assist Boucher...
I guess suspending him for two wasn't an easy enough no-brainer for the league. Rivalry's sell tickets, though. The Comets need some nuclear deterents.
Oh my gawd,......GOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lukas Jasek with the gimme empty netter 5-2 game. Assist Boucher.
5-2 final score. The three stars were:
Replay I was watching conked out in the late second
If you start watching late, but during the live broadcast it gives out at games end but will reload shortly...
It was a pretty good night on the out-of-town scoreboard, with Belleville and Cleveland both losing (thought Toronto did pick up a win (1 assist for Gagner, Carcone didn't play).
Good night for Demko: 2 goals on 29 shots. His save percentage is now at .913, which would put him at about 13th in the AHL if he had enough games played to qualify.
The Comets' win streak is now at four, and they're in third place in the division, though the teams around them still have games in hand.
When it comes to the likes of Lind and Gadjovich, I still have lots of patience for them as prospects. If there's one thing even the most jaded anti-Benning poster would have to grudgingly concede, it's that this regime has done a good job improving guys' skating. Bo is the gold standard, but guys like Pouliot, Gudbranson, Boeser (I think, a bit of a small sample size with his groin), Archibald, have shown marked improvement in their skating. Because of this, I wonder if that's part of the draft strategy last draft...take guys underrated due to issues in their skating and then rebuild their stride over a couple of years.
Maybe Lind, Gadjovich, Dahlen, don't improve their skating. But no way the book is closed on it. Might take a couple of years, but I'm not writing anyone off just yet.
On a bit of a roll. Team seems better down the middle with Kero, Gaunce and Darcy
Brisebois - much better at using his body around his net to screen people off the puck. Given an increased role and performed well on the PK. Games like this give you hope that he can move his game up to the next level - which at this point is to dominate in the the AHL. Is a good skater
McEneny - played a ton and was again very good in distributing the puck and moving it from his zone.
Gaunce - showed a nice touch on his goal and was good defensively. Play has improved
MacEwen - maybe the best thing he did was to lay a heavy hit after Dahlen got nailed which was about the only push back the Comets showed. Nice goal and created other chances. Work well with Gaunce
Graham - smart player who used his speed and stick work to get the puck out of danger. Real flair in how he plays.
Demko - first goal was a little weak but made big saves at crucial times. Providing the type of goaltending that may get the team on a run like last year.
Boucher - maybe the best forward. Sometimes too individual but that seemed mainly about him trying to press the offense - something the team needs.
Did Not Like
Lind - very weak on his skates - gets knocked down all the time. His progress to date can only be described as dismal. Maybe trading seconds after all isn't bad idea since Benning can seem to get anything out of this round. Indeed, outside of Demko the Canucks seem to never get anything out of the 2nd round in their modern history.
McMaster - plays slow and small.
Jasek - in and out of the play but did make a nice pass on the Darcy goal. Probably should have gotten a second assist later in the game. Indication that he sees the ice well.
Blujus - can see he is a little tentative and probably nursing an injury
Sauce - actually very solid -makes the simple play all the time but this is effective so far. T shirt sales are thru the roof
Darcy - now he has moved down the line up and away from difficult match ups, his play has improved.
Too bad about Dalhen - looked like a concussion. Seemed to turn on the hit but still it was a charge by Tangradi. Lack of response was again troubling. Those who say leave these matters to the League and refs are dolts. Tangradi getting a game off for the hit on Sautner is all the evidence you need to know this. Either you police this yourself or simply accept the abuse coming your way.
Lind and gadjovich aren’t top 10 prospects on this team anymore, very unlikely either makes it sadly
