I for one, didn't want them losing to Ottawa! Need to win these type of games with other bottom feeders. Man I honestly hate the hope we lose mentality, as it is just not the way it should be! I want to watch my team win, not hope they lose so we can get better players!

It's a matter of whether you are satisfied with this team becoming a early-mid 00's Flames or an actual threat in the playoffs.

I hear that. I actually stopped watching games. I just watch the condensed game the next day.

If they were a bubble team things would be different. But they are at the bottom. I look forward to watching next year.

Ok, that was more tank'y.

Detroit picks up no points.

ANA, NJD & FLA win their games.
NYR stay in the tracker with a loss.

6/8

90 /145 (62%)

2 teams jump over to drop DET to 4th last.

Team - Pts - Games - ROW
11. FLA - 58 - 57 - 22
10. NYR - 58 - 58 - 19
9. ARI - 57 - 58 - 24 (x2)
8. COL - 57 - 58 - 23

5. NJD - 54 - 59 - 22

4. DET - 54 - 60 - 21
3. EDM - 53 - 57 - 21
2. LAK - 52 - 58 - 21
1. OTT - 49- 58 - 22

Gonna group the next 2 nights together. Detroit does not play. Each team in the tracker plays once with Arizona being the exception. They play both nights.

Feb 18
ARI vs CAL
OTT vs CHI
COL
vs VGK
LAK vs WAS

Feb 19
FLA vs BUF
NJD vs PIT
NYR vs CAR
ANA vs MIN
ARI vs EDM

20 points out there. Detroit will be 2nd, 3rd or 4th after this. Some wins for some of the upper teams would be nice to start creating some separation. Not much difference from 3rd last to 10th last as it stands.

As it stands now I think we probably finish second worst. Edmonton and Anaheim are both in big slumps that will prob turn around and NJ are about to get Taylor Hall back. LA and us will be close but I think we have more pieces to sell at the deadline and will get worse as a result. Not sure we can sink below Ottawa though, esp if they sell Duchene and Stone

Yes this is by far his best season. However there are a lot of players in the NHL better than him. That said he is our best player.

He's currently 38th in scoring in the league, plays a premium position, and isn't flanked by super power wingers. If he's not in the bottom quarter of the top 50 players (~40ish) I would love to hear your argument.

there's plenty of arguments for that

1: taking more than just one year into account,he was 61st in scoring last year and 230th the year before
2: other positions,it's hard to really rank these things and it will vary wildly from person to person just how many defensemen and goalies would slot in ahead of him

not to say he doesn't have a decent argument for being a top 50 guy at this point but it's hardly some outlandish position to argue otherwise either

Given his pretty linear development, his position, and being very good over the last 2 years, and 3 of the last 4, I think its easier to make the argument for, over against. Especially when age is taken into consideration.

I go both ways. I think it’s pointless to rank players anyway. It’s worth noting that he has a way lower OZR% than most premier forwards and he logs more ice time than most as well. His Corsi Rel% and xGF Rel% are also top 10 for forwards this season. On the flip side, his GAR is very mediocre, so there’s analytic arguments for both sides. We won’t see what Larkin can really be until we flank him with premier scoring wingers (*pray* for Zadina and Kakko)

GAR is still in its infancy. Where Corsi and Fenwick are older and how they measure a player is well know, GAR is an attempt to build a WAR system in hockey, and even WAR can be subjective. I would be much more worried if his Corsi an Fenwick were meh and his GAR was amazing than vice versa. All that being said I think your first sentence is right. Ranking players tends to be problematic. I think you can categorize them. I would rank Larkin as a great top 6 center. That in my mind puts him in the top 45-65 players in the league.

So based on this site, we are in the top-6. and in this draft, I like Hughes, Kakko, Cozens, and Dach. I really hope we don't go on a winning streak.

Pretty good 2 days.

Feb 18
ARI vs CAL - loss
OTT vs CHI - Chi win, Ott loss
COL vs VGK - win
LAK vs WAS - loss

4/9

Feb 19
FLA vs BUF - win
NJD vs PIT - loss
NYR vs CAR - win
ANA vs MIN - win
ARI vs EDM - Ari win, Edm OT Loss

9/11

Tally 103 / 165 (62%)

Lots of movement from last update. Not much results from the bottom couple teams but the ones above Detroit mostly made some points. FLA, NYR, ARI, COL, CHI all have left the tracker for now.

Team - Pts - Games - ROW

6. ANA - 57 - 60 - 21
3. EDM - 54 - 59 - 21
4. NJD - 54 - 60 - 22
3. DET - 54 - 60 - 21
2. LAK - 52 - 59 - 21
1. OTT - 49- 59 - 22

Detroit plays Chicago. There are no games from the others listed above but there are some games that include teams that are just outside the window. (CHI, COL)

A Detroit win would bring up to 7 teams back into 4 point range.
