If you have any interest in watching the AHL see LB's post from the Flames TV Sked thread.

And here's how to watch the AHL games.

Our AHL team could actually be worth watching this year.

Likely one of Foo or Mangiapane, Phillips, Gawdin, Kylington, Gillies, Parsons, Valimaki and Dube are all probably there at least to start.

It's been worth watching every year. But they won't be a championship calibre team without a strong veteran core.

That’s debatable regarding always worth watching.

From those last Abbotsford years, to the Adirondack year to the first year in Stockton... there’s been a lot C/D level prospects. With not much upside.

Hell , I think if you look at the Adirondack year; there’s probably one or two active Flames who are actually still with the team on that entire roster. I think that was Kulaks first full pro season; and I’m pretty sure he spent more time in the ECHL even.

I might buy if Valimaki goes to Stockton, if not, I’ll just read the recaps and listen to the coach interviews.

I wasn't referring to the level prospects, its just fun hockey to watch. Has the same emotion as the CHL but much a much higher skill level.

I’d agree, the level of prospect doesn’t correlate to the excitement of watching AHL hockey. Kolanos is was one of the most exiting AHL players I’ve ever wateched, but he wasn’t NHL caliber.
He really was a fantastic AHL player.

If the Heat played in Calgary I'd go watch the games. I think a lot of people would.

I would love to see the Lethbridge Hurricanes turned into the Flames farm system. I went to U of L and would have loved to go to AHL games if that was a choice.

Overall though I do prefer the CHL. The less structure allows for some great plays and monster hits. I think it’s still the closest thing to throwback hockey of the past. Plus, supporting the Canadian economy etc..

I'd kill for the Hurrishames to be dumped and the Heat play out of Lethbridge. I'd be the first in line for season tix

A pretty non-descript group. I'm sure help will be on the way as early as today.

The no ones are there at this time.
Within the next week they'll get one of Mangi/Dube, Kylington, a couple goalies. By the end they'll have a decent roster. Valimaki will likely be there, which is a huge bump to the team.

Exactly. They'll soon get Robinson, Quine, Pollock, Gawdin, Lomberg, Phillups, Rychel, at least three of Foo, Mangiapane, Klimchuk & Dube and possibly one or two of Hathaway, Lazar and Peluso. Parsons, one of Gillies or Rittich. As well as three of Valimaki, Prout, Kylington, Andersson & Kulak, to with Ollas Mattsson, Hogstrom (when healthy) and potentially a defenseman from our veteran PTOs

Might actually have one of the better Heat rosters we've sen in a while.
Some veteran NHL'ers in there, some journeyman AHL'ers, some youth.

It'll be fun watching Juuso play 25 minutes a night as a 20 year old out there.

This has potential to be the Heat's best ever roster.

Mangiapane - Dube - Robinson
Klimchuk - Quine - Foo
Rychel - Gawdin - Ehliz
Pollock - McMurtry - Blomberg

Kylington - Proust
O'Brien - Valimaki
Ollas Mattson - Hogstrom

Gillies/Parsons

Just for upside alone I’d still wouldn’t mind if Sproul was signed to an AHL deal. But yeah this is a decent roster for the Heat, Treliving has done a nice job.

I think he'll go back to the WHL, he's going to get murdered as a pro. He can't dodge the hits the WHL, AHL will be worse.

Could he get a cup of tea in Stockton? That way he is given an idea what to expect in the A and can work on that in the dub. I forget what I was reading, but it essentially said that the cup of coffee games were important to many players development wise to get an idea the level of play they need to hone their skills do when working in a lower level league. (ie: different level of speed, physicality, pace etc.) I think it was an interview with Foo who said that part of his failures at the NHL level were due to him being star struck as opposed to playing his game. He said he saw significant improvement once he realized the other players were just players and his tools could be effective against them.
