Am I the only one who thinks our defence is too soft. I see Sanheim getting beat a lot, and MacDonald getting out muscled way too much.

Gudas on the other hand, just doesn’t have much skill.

I see lots of positives on this team. But with our deep prospect pool. I wouldn’t bro opposed to trade for a Top 4 shut down D man.

Hell, even just switching Myers for MacDonald would be enough.

Provorov—Gostisbehere
Hagg—Myers
Sanheim—Gudas

Deskfront, facing WSW
Sanheim for Alzner might work for both teams.

At this point in his career, not sure Alzner is going to give you much more than Hagg other than "veteran reliability."

He's a physical D-man with decent mobility, but at 30 he is what he is, he's had 13 and 11 ES points the last two seasons, he's not good at possession, he's not that good at anything. He's now what the Flyers hope Hagg will become this year, or Morin next year.

He's on the 2nd year of a 5 yr/$23M contract. Maybe I'd trade MacDonald straight up, but I don't think I want to be paying Alzner in two years.

Both the Flyers and Phantoms have three goalies playing or practicing.

Elliott, Pickard & Neuvirth.

Hart, Stolarz & Lyon.

Seems people can't detect sarcasm anymore.

Yeah I thought that was blatantly obvious.

I do think Sanheim needs to let the play come to him a bit more, he seems to be having Andrew MacDonald symptoms of falling over.

I think one of the most frustrating parts of this roster is when the team is trailing, like Saturday, their 4th option to generate offense on the blueline is MacDonald. And instead of benching guys like he does when he has a lead, the coach rolls 4 lines and 3 D pairs until about 3 minutes left in regulation. This wasn't a big problem last year because the team rarely trailed, but it's a new season and they are going to have to play catch up a lot more this year.

I think because when you're playing catchup, it takes a lot more energy to press the action than just flip the puck out of the D-zone to neutral ice. So you need to play everyone to keep legs fresh, play just your top scorers and their legs will be dead long before the period ends.

Obviously it's likely that Hagg and Sanheim's rate of ES point production will increase.

Sanheim: 759:44/60 = 12.67 hours. 11 P/12.67 = 0.87 Points/60 at ES.

MacDonald: 4,308:15/60 = 71.8 hours. 54 P/71.8 = 0.75 Points/60 at ES

The scariest stat in the previous post is that if you have watched every Flyers game that MacDonald has played in since Holmgren traded for him, then you have watched him play three full days worth of even strength hockey.

Kudos on not highlighting the 71.8 hours played. This almost reads as normal, if not a bit weird with Gudas pacing for 3rd. Do they give extra points to goals scored from beyond the blue-line? When it's put into context how much time AMac spends on the ice, this chart becomes downright offensive.
