We haven't had a particularly tough schedule the last couple weeks either outside of TB. We did beat Vegas but looked a little mediocre and we also got trounced by Calgary.

Just saw this on the main boards about the Sharks:

They have 6 guys with more goals than the Kings leading goal scorer, and 7 guys with more points than the Kings leading point scorer.

ouch.

Couldn't happen to a "nicer" team... :sarcasm:

Calgary shouldn't be discounted. They're having a great year. I figure it'll be us vs. them for the Pacific division playoff title.

Sharks played Calgary well. The Flames got a shit ton of bounces that night, and Dell sucked.

Five of the eight goals against there were horrific defensive miscues. There were elements of their game that was good but they were trash defensively that night. They did also have some bad luck but they can certainly clean up their defensive game.

So Leafs are on a slide. Looking at their board - Marleau is starting to garner some attention (not nearly as much as Gardiner and Kadri).
10 goals and 10 assists in 44 games (0.45 p/gp).

To compare, Sharks have 8 forwards with more production, and Lukas Radil is at the same point per game.

Doesn't matter. TML have already won the 2018-19 and 2019-20 Stanley Cup. Right now they are just resting for the playoffs.

Just like that, the Sharks have a higher points percentage.

Marleau is also 39. 0.45 p/gm is pretty good for that age, especially on a team with Tavares, Matthews, Marner, and Nylander all expected to carry the offensive weight. But this is probably precisely why DW didn't want to sign him for 3 years. Idk why Leafs fans would expect anything more than ~40pts from Marleau

I only raised this issue for the specific reason that DW was right to not to attempt to get Marleau signed to a similar contract. As much as it sucks having to see him in another uniform, it has refreshed the Sharks line up.

Marleau has played 292 5-on-5 minutes with Auston Matthews or John Tavares and he has the same number of points as Barclay Goodrow and Melker Karlsson. (10) He has also played 150 more minutes than either of those players.

Just looking at the numbers, he’s actually pretty bad at this point. His production and his shot/chance/goal metrics are all very poor, both on their own and relative to his teammates.

The funny thing is, it wasn’t even this year that stopped Doug Wilson from signing him. It was next year.

These wouldn't be that horrible if those numbers were spread out but most of those 10 goals and 10 assists were early in the season. He has 6 goals and 2 assists in his last 25 games and pointless in the last 9. Take away his 1st 3 games where he had 4 points he has only had 16 points in his last 42 games.

Which is hilarious because last season Leaf fans wanted to send Gardiner to the moon for his performance in the playoffs, then this season he was suddenly worth a lot in a trade because he's a legit top 4 D and now they are back to hating him and think he's garbage.

Kadri is also worth some obscene amount by their standards but also is god awful at the same time as though other teams wont notice he's not good.

Plus Marleau is going to waive his NMC to go to Arizona or another bottom feeder next year freeing them of their cap hell (this is my personal favorite) once the bonus is paid...hell even the Sharks will probably take him back because the bonus is paid and Hasso is apparently a penny pincher (???) nevermind the fact we don't magically have 6.5m in cap space for him or the fact that we offered 13+ to Tavares. They are delusional but Dubas is god and we are just here to kill time until they win the cup the next 10 years straight despite not winning a round in the playoffs in over a decade
