The Canucks should look more like below. But still too many F’s. Gaunce and Granlund waived. Hopefully Gagner traded.

Baertschi - Horvat - Boeser
Goldobin - Petterson/Gagner - Eriksson
Leipsic - Sutter - Virtanen
Schaller - Beagle - Leipsic
Injured: Rousell

Edler Tanev
Hutton/Pouliot - Stecher
MDZ - Badbranson

My guess on NYR lines for the season opener

Kreider-Zibenajad-Buchnevich
Vesey-Hayes-Zucarello
Spooner-Andersson-Namestnikov
LW*-Holland-Fast

*LW is one of Beleskey, McLeod, Nieves
Perhaps one of Lindqvist or Mekanen makes it as a RW with Fast moving over to the port side

Skjei-Shattenkirk
Staal-DeAngelo
Pionk*-McQuaid

*Pionk to play the offside over Claesson

Its just my opinion but I think Zibanejad & Hayes take the top 2 center positions, so NY will look for more of a defensive center and that player is Lias Andersson. Lias can also kill penalties.

Chytil is more of an offense first player, so if Hayes is asked again to play C3 then its very possible we see him opening night.

My hunch is we won't see both Andersson & Chytil at the same time because both the GM & Coach Quinn have said they will play center.

I doubt NY plays Andersson or Chytil as 4C. That is a waste of talent and burns the first year on their contracts. Look for Peter Holland to play 4C or perhaps Boo Nieves.

One of the two rookies will start in Hartford.

Remember that Chytil was the youngest player in the AHL last season so more "seasoning" is a good thing and something NY hasn't really done too much of over the years. Another half season as top dog on the Wolfpack is quality experience for Filip who is still learning the North American game.

Tampa lines for their first game:

90 ALEXANDER VOLKOV - 91 STEVEN STAMKOS - 86 NIKITA KUCHEROV
18 ONDREJ PALAT - 21 BRAYDEN POINT - 15 ANDY ANDREOFF
7 MATHIEU JOSEPH - 9 TYLER JOHNSON - 46 TAYLOR RADDYSH
82 GABRIEL FORTIER - 36 ALEXEY LIPANOV - 47 JONNE TAMMELA

77 VICTOR HEDMAN - 5 DAN GIRARDI
27 RYAN McDONAGH - 6 ANTON STRALMAN
74 DOMINIK MASIN - 55 BRAYDON COBURN

88 ANDREI VASILEVSKIY
1 CONOR INGRAM

Not too horribly far off from what their opening night lineup should be.

For Ottawa:

Dzingel Duchene Boedker

Tkachuk Tierney Stone

Formenton Chlapik Ryan

Pajaarvi Smith Pyatt

Chabot Ceci

Borowiecki Wideman

Wolanin DeMelo

I’m predicting Formenton will get his 9 games before being sent back to London. So far he’s looked like he belongs, but another full year in the OHL would be best for his development in my mind. Once he’s sent back I see Rudolfs Balcers getting called up and taking his spot on the 3rd line. NHL ready now, and has displayed good chemistry with Chlapik.

Based on the prospect tournament & 1 preseason game, I think they start Zadina in the AHL for now.

UPDATE: Mike Green was just diagnosed with a virus that attacks the liver & is out indefinitely, unfortunately for him & our D.

W/O Green to start season...

DDK-Daley
Ericsson-Hronek
Kronwall-Jensen
Sulak

If/when Green comes back, they move Jensen asap, as reports indicated there was some interest by several GM's last year. The only problem is Jensen & Green are our only currently established RHD...so replacing them with any of our upcoming LHD: Cholowski, Sulak, Hicketts isn't really an option. Saarijarvi is at least 1 year away. Ericsson played the m ajority of his career on the Right side, however it is not his natural position, nor strength, especially in the twilight of his career. Daley is a LHD who prefers the right side...

Daley's NTC is up at '19 TDL, so he'll be replaced by Cholowski.

FFWD TDL '19:

Does Haley get waived to the AHL or really stick around as the 13th forward? I know he cleared waivers, but did Hutchinson get sent down as well or might they keep him around and give Luongo more rest on practice days, etc?

Kings forwards have been practicing and playing like this for the last 3 days.

Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
Kempe-Carter-Kovalchuk
Pearson-Amadio-Toffoli
Clifford-Thompson-Lewis

This could be the opening defense. Depends on Forbort's health.

classic HFboards - every team's lineup loaded with rookies, in top 6 or 9 roles lol.

Its not gonna happen, you know the NHL and its coaches. They would rather play some veteran grinder with 10 point upside. And honestly often times they are right to do it, many (most) of these kids are not ready.

Actually, it's now looking like the Canes will have 4-5 rookies in their opening night line-up unless there is a D for F trade before the season starts. Svechnikov, Necas, Zykov, Foegele are pretty much locks right now. Wallmark has a shot also due to the injury to Rask. Canes have 18 forwards left in camp and 9 of them are rookies.

We have no idea what the forward line-up will look like though.

Toronto had a bunch of rookies in the line-up two seasons ago and made the playoffs: Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Brown, Zaitsev, Hyman all played a full season. Soshnikov played 56 games as well.

Kotkaniemi will start the season in Montreal, so the opening night roster should look like this:

Jonathan Drouin - Jesperi Kotkaniemi - Joel Armia
Tomas Tatar - Phillip Danault - Brendan Gallagher
Paul Byron - Max Domi - Artturi Lehkonen
Jacob De La Rose - Matthew Peca - Charles Hudon
Extras: Tomas Plekanec & Nikita Scherbak
Injured: Andrew Shaw & Nicolas Deslauriers

Mike Reilly - Jeff Petry
Victor Mete - Noah Juulsen
Karl Alzner - Jordie Benn
Extra: Xavier Ouellet
Injured: Shea Weber, David Schlemko

Carey Price - Antti Niemi
