Kicking things off for the Metropolitan Division are the Carolina Hurricanes -- a team on the verge of legitimately competing who will need major contributions from their top prospects in order to do so. Fortunately for the Canes, the boast an abundance of depth within the system.

Remember. 4 Canadiens in the Top 50 prospects!
Five of them with Suzuki, actually.

Has any of them disappointed so far ? Both Mete and Juulsen are looking like legit top four Dmen and are making this team too good for another tank year, what about Jesperi Kotkaniemi ? Is he still a bust ?

Today we peer into the mess that is the Ottawa Senators. Lacking an identity, as well as a quantity of quality assets, the Senators are heading down a rough and uncertain road. Amplifying matters is Ottawa's lack of promising prospects, as outside of Brady Tkachuk and Josh Norris the franchise's future is woefully thin.

Batherson should be higher, the Sens really have something there (I might even say as high as 3rd behind Tkachuk & Formenton). Lajoie definitely should be in the top 10, but I realize he was flying under the radar at the time of publication.

Today, we take a closer look at the New York Rangers' farm system. Although in the midst of a self-initiated rebuild, don't expect the Rangers' playoff drought to be long lived -- the coming arrivals of prospect Lias Andersson, Filip Chytil, Vitali Kravtsov and others will ensure a quick turnaround in the 'Big Apple'.

Up next in our NHL Farm System series are the Philadelphia Flyers, an emerging team within the Metropolitan Division on the verge of substantial postseason success. If able to receive quality and consistent goaltending, the Flyers could become a sustained force once strengthened by their young and upcoming prospects.

Agree with you take on Howden. The kid looks excellent so far.

Well 7 goals scored today for the Bruins by guys that are 22 and under, seems depth is not such a bad thing when drafting after all. Sure a top guy is great but you gotta tank pretty hard to do that so Pronman can point at it as the be all and end all. No brainer top 3 picks are easy, finding guys in the rounds 2 - 7 is where the teams really build themselves.

So far you are doing a good job with the list, keep it up.

We're back at it today with the latest instalment of our NHL Farm System Series.

Today, we take a look at the reigning Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals -- a franchise who can ill afford to overlook its thin farm system if it wishes to enjoy sustained, long-term success.

Following the Panthers are the Montreal Canadiens.

In the midst of a re-tool, the Canadiens boasts a number of quality assets yet lack the depth to legitimately compete within the Atlantic Division. Nabbing Nick Suzuki from the Vegas Golden Knights was a strong move, but Montreal requires a whack of other young prospect before they can move forward and contend.

Josh Brook at 9 without even a mention of him in your text says just about all I need to know about your rankings. You didn't do your homework.

So true.... Brooks is MTL best defenceman prospect and he shouldn't be ranked 9th of our depth chart, not even close.

1-Kotkaniemi
2-Suzuki
3-Poehling
4-Brooks
5-Primeau

It's been a minute, but we're re-igniting our NHL Farm System Report Series today with an in-depth look into the Chicago Blackhawks' prospect pool. Boasting two stud defenders alongside an arsenal of quality depth prospects, don't expect the Blackhawks' playoff drought to persist.
