PPG is the absolute minimum for a good prospect in the year after the draft. The second-line center on his team is a year younger than him and scored at almost the same pace as him and was a 4th rounder.

I like Studnicka but his ceiling is a 3rd line centre unless he really shows something offensively this year. He's getting +5m of power play time a game and had 22 goals and cooled off after a hot start.

You want a playmaking centre? A 16-year-old Ryan Spooner scored 8 more goals than a 19-year-old Studnicka.
I’ll just wait and see. Studnicka was also a PPG player in Providence before getting hurt.

Spooner was always a talented offensive player, he just couldn’t do everything else. If Studnicka can play better defense and brings a little more grit, his game will translate to the NHL much better than Spooner’s game. I think it’s more likely he gets sent back down this year, but him scoring 22 goals last season won’t be the reason. I think he’s shown more offensive capability than JFK.

I'm done with him after his playoff no-show. Terrible, disgusting performance.

Give me a break with this stuff. Terrible and disgusting performance? You're singling out Heinen, when his linemates did the exact same thing? Hell, besides the first line and DeBrusk, the team did very little. But yes, single out Heinen. Laughable.

Over/Under: 5 rookies will score their first NHL goal this season for the Bruins.

think under, not sure DS will put as many rooks in the lineup this season barring injury of course

I say under, Donato is still a rookie I believe but popped some late last year so won`t be his first. Cehlarik got one last year, maybe Fitzgerald or a Frederic get a call up, Seny?

I think a lot depends on who the favored sons are going to be, and who's "out" in that regard.

Two years ago, Heinen was given every opportunity with Krejci but wasn't quite ready. He comes in last year and is treated like the red headed step-son. Outplays every rookie in camp and starts in Providence. Gets called up and but is put on the 4th line...

Jake DeBrusk was the favored son last year, and could no wrong. They basically built that 2nd line around him, they tried a bunch of RW's and when Krejci was down a few different C's but Jake DeBrusk was a fixture.

This time around, I think Donato is going to be the favored son, and Bjork is going to get the Heinen (year 2) treatment. IF they split up the super line, Donato is going to get first dibs on that slot. Bjork, on the other hand, is going to have to lap the field to get into the lineup, and then be their best forward on some nights to stay there.

I think Donato will get first dibs on the spot next to bergeron, but for a variety of factors not including he’ll be a favored son, at least in the sense that he won’t be moved around or sent to providence if it warrants it. He fits that spot because of his style of play, and because Marchand and Bergeron can and do play as the only forwards on the ice very effectively quite often.

Bjork will be on the back burner not because there’s some sort of favoritism in the coaching staff, but because he was out 6 months for an injured arm, and while he might have the most high end skills of our young forwards, he showed he needs to put on mass and figure out the timing and spacing of the NHL

So does Donato, and he’ll show that often this year, I have no doubt Cassidy will move him into the role that’s best for the team and him no matter what happens.

It is a bummer Bjork will probably take longer than what we all thought when he started lighting it up, but I think he’ll get there. He’s really fun to watch. He’s a puck hunter for sure
