Yeah, Speers' descent is interesting. Thought his decision making was ahead of his peers in his first two development camps but then it seems like he stalled big time after his cup of coffee with the big club.

Binghamton Devils forward Ryan Schmelzer has been suspended for two (2) games as a consequence of an illegal check to the head of an opponent in a game vs. Utica on Dec. 8.
Schmelzer was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 28.1 (supplementary discipline). He will miss Binghamton’s games Wednesday (Dec. 12) at Rochester and Friday (Dec. 14) at Utica.
Binghamton Devils forward Eric Tangradi has been suspended for one (1) game as a consequence of a boarding incident in a game vs. Utica on Dec. 8.
Tangradi was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 28.1 (supplementary discipline). He will miss Binghamton’s game Wednesday (Dec. 12) at Rochester.

Yeah, Speers' descent is interesting. Thought his decision making was ahead of his peers in his first two development camps but then it seems like he stalled big time after his cup of coffee with the big club.

Speers just did not progress as a player. His best year production wise in juniors was his draft year, following 2 years were of pretty similar point production rate, but you want to see those #'s increase not level off.

Which points to the difficulty of drafting players,distinguishing good players from lesser players at that point in time is not all that difficult, Speers #'s in his draft year were very good, especially for a 3rd rounder, but forecasting how they develop is a whole other thing.

And that's where you have to look at, amongst other things, physical attributes. Speers is a smallish guy, with not a ton of speed. You have to be really heavy in other aspects to overcome that. A guy like Stud's is probably a good counter example, meh production, even in his +1 year, but he's a bigger kid, skinny, but you expect he will fill out, and has good speed and skill.

I think McLeod fits the bill of having those physical attributes that you hope a player can build around. But even with those attributes it's not coming together as you would hope, at least not yet.

B-dev's outshot 16-8 in the first, but Blackwood stopped all 16 while b-Dev's put 2 on the board.

B-Dev's then outshot 13-10 in the 2nd period but outscore Rochester 3-1.

Bing also killed all 4 American pp's(though I don't have shot totals).

So yeah Blackwood was big in this one.

Q with a 2 point game as well. Plus 5 sog's.
