Based on the five total minutes of research I did for that draft i remember wanting Zach Budish. I should be a pro amateur scout imo.

What to make of Vesalainen, though? I don't know if Carolina would be willing to draft another Finnish forward this high for predictability reasons, but he does check some boxes with size from the wing that we're really lacking.

There's sides and sides to that. It really looks a bit silly to stack on guys from one particular non-NA location, but then again, teams seem to be happy and willing to sign a $1M Free Agent just so that a first-tier non-NA prospect of theirs would have a "mentor" who speaks the same language and can help him to get acclimatised, so there'd be a synergy benefit to some extent in that. Teravainen's presence apparently has been good for Aho, and he hardly is a seasoned vet or any more inside with the organization what with being a newcomer himself.

Plus, the prospect himself ranks where he ranks, and it would be silly to pass the BPA in a Draft just for the nationality consideration.

The risk that every single one goes full Maatta in the eventual Stanley Cup Parade is just one we have to accept.

Given that outside of the top 2-5 prospects in this draft, there doesn't seem to be much consensus, you almost have to go boom or bust

A name to keep an eye on: Scott Reedy. I really like what I have seen of him and think he's a Carolina type pick. US born forward headed to Minnesota. Power forward with superb stick handling and really good skating. Had an underwhelming year in the development program (for what was expected; many had him as top 25) but still has huge potential. Good frame. Willingness to mix it up. I can't say enough how much he has grown on me over doing research for the 2nd round type prospects and beyond. I could see him reasonably being taken as early as the middle 2nd.

I like him, too. I think he may go before our 2nd round picks, tho. I think he's catching a lot of eyes.

Love the Tolvanen pick. Suzuki is right there with him for me, but Tolvanen has such an incredible goal scoring instinct that I couldn't pass him up. I probably would have went JAD with the first 2nd but Bowers + Reedy is solid. I don't know much outside of the 1st

Love the draft. Would be perfectly happy if it played out like this irl.

When we were higher in the standings at one point, Bowers was a guy I was interested in as a possible first round selection for us.

TSN final draft ranking is out
Hischier is nr1- I would take him as well as nr1

Talking about players - what do you guys think about Liljegren now when the draft is so close? Where he will go? I think in the end he will be very good D man, but it will take some time for him, so I would not be surprised if someone took him before nr16
What you guys think about that?

I have been on the Liljegren train since Day 1, if he is there and we aren't excited about any of the forwards, take him.

I would take him if he's available to us simply because I think he'll be better and more valuable even as a trade chip than any of the forwards available at that stage.

I am thinking the same, I have a feeling that this drop in ranking will only help him to be a better player in the future to prove everyone wrong.

But I do think someone will take him before our pick
