Honestly I don't have an exact first round so my rankings change a bit sometimes due to me forgetting people exist..if I took time I could make a solid list but this is still meh I didn't want to spend too much time thinking

Edit: forgot Ikonen and Lipanov, both would be in my top 31

Top 15 NHL 2017 Draft rankings:

http://vocaroo.com/i/s0RjpcAffcRf <-- My Audio about the Mock List (Enjoy my smooth voice)

1 - Nico Hischier
2 - Nolan Patrick
3 - Casey Mittelstadt
4 - Cale Makar
5 - Gabriel Vilardi
6 - Miro Heiskanen
7 - Elias Pettersson
8 - Lias Anderson
9 - Cody Glass
10 - Owen Tippett
11 - Timothy Liljegren
12 - Martin Necas
13 - Nick Suzuki
14 - Klim Kostin
15 - Jake Oettinger

In my opinion, these are the top 15 talents in the 2017 NHL Draft.

Summary: Nico I believe has the second highest offensive potential in this NHL Draft, it was a tough choice between the two, but I look for top end skill as my #1 attribute, and he has this in spades.

Talking about high end skill: Casey Mittelstadt is in my opinion the most talented player in this draft, has a higher ceiling than even Nico and Nolan, but needs significantly more time to reach his ceiling. I believe that the Canucks absolutely need to target him here.

Makar is the most dynamic and offensive D-man in this draft, While I don't belive he will become Erik Karlsson, I think maybe a smaller version of PK Subban is something we should be hoping.

Cody Glass is maybe my least favorite prospect that is hyped currently. While he will become a solid 2nd line center, his game is way to Vanilla, and I would like to "shoot for the moon" with more pure talented attributes (hands,Shot,IQ) players.

Klim Kostin has been one of my favorite players for awhile now, big strong, has a great two way game, the russian factor should not scare the canucks away if we hand another 1st rounder, he has all the talent to develop into a Kopitar type player.

Kake Oettinger is the best goalie in the past few drafts, extremely athletic, and just a great overall package in his game, he is a future #1 goalie for sure, Can't miss goalie prospect.

Theres a lot of love for brannstrom in these rankings

i had him even a bit higher prior to the combine measurements (he was listed as 5'10 but ended up being 5'9), had to drop him a bit even tho im a huge fan of his.

sadly size is an important aspect for dmen, it could end up being a very big limiting factor in his career (it hasn't been thus far even tho he always faces older players, which is promising).. or he could end up being another Krug, Ellis etc.

but look at DeBrincat now, do you think teams wouldnt have taken him in the 1st round last year if they knew how dominant he was going to be this season? he was pretty much the best CHL'er this year.

but yes i realize that teams have to project and draft based on NHL upside (and not by how well ppl play in juniors).

I know its just one inch, but if brannstrom was 5"10, id gladly take him in the twenties but now im thinking 40s. For defensemen its hard to be short

I don't understand so.many of these... how is Poehling slipping out of top 30's and how is Yamamoto also not only falling out of the top 30 but behind Anderson-Dolan who played on the same team and was obviously the lessor of the 2 players.

Hmm.. i dont really count too many people having JAD ahead of Yamamoto.

That said i'm sure the people who have him behind JAD have concerns about his size (also JAD is a year+ younger), DeBrincat went #39 last year and he was a stud in the OHL for 2 years in a row. Personally, im a big fan of Yamamoto so that isn't too much of a concern for me.
