Just like the Oilers the Jets could be very average next year if all the guys having career years don't duplicate what they did this season and if Hellebyuk reports back to his norm like Talbot did.
The Jets have a way better team than we do. It's not even close.

They could but they have a lot of work horses and well rounded energy as a team.

I can't see that team pulling an Oilers. I mean they will be making the playoffs definitely.

Jets grounded. Man, 3 losses in a row in a playoff round. How bad is that? Only thing worse is 4 in a row.

Feel sorry for Schiefele. How many times you gonna score 14 goals within 3 rounds. If the rest of the team matched him they'd be headed to the SC. Looks like a lot of guys couldn't elevate.

So the Cup only cost Foley $500 million dollars? :sarcasm:

I'm still saying our roster at the end of this season would've beaten them.

The good news is that a lot of the sorts of players the Oilers need can apparently be acquired easily via trade.

The bad news is that teams aren't going to be stupid enough to trade them away anymore.

All fair points. Those Oilers were 1 poorly (understatement) officiated game away from the Western Conference finals. I don't think they would have beat the Preds, but it doesn't look like the Jets are going to beat the Knights. Do you think the Oilers of last year would be down 3-1 against the Knights?

Well I think the biggest thing is having a coach that knows how to best motivate and maximize his personnel's strengths. TMac is garbage on front compared to Gallant

Sure they are they had essentially the same team 2 years ago and missed the playoffs. If Hellebyuk reverts back to how he is finishing these playoffs next season they are going to struggle. They may very well lose Myers who put up 35+ points and they are banking on guys like Connor, Armia, Morrisey, and Trouba to continue to get better the same way the Oilers banked on their back end and depth forwards to not stagnate like they did.

They’ve added pieces through the draft and other acquisitions. Their forward group murdered ours this year and the defenses are light years apart.

Just like the Oilers last year the calls against us have brutal at times in the playoffs.

This might actually be a tougher series loss than any of the second round exits for the Caps.
