Feel bad for Quick, zero support from his team today. That 2 on zero rush for team Europe's 2nd goal was rubbish. How does any goalie make a save there?

Is there any way to resurrect Herb Brooks? Surely he can't be as bad as any of those clowns.

When it comes to that play... Yes, Kane did lose the puck, but why did both the blue liners simultaneously move deeper into the offensive zone instead of being prepared to defend in case of a turnover?

The NHL needs the US to do well at this tournament and leaving the best US talent on the U24 NA doesn't help that. I think the 2 gimmick teams were a one-off just for 2016.

It doesn't matter. The defense they chose not to ice, either through benching (Buf), or just outright not even inviting because they don't play the way the briantrust wants would ****ing obliterate the current defense.

Byfuglien - Faulk
Yandle - Shattenkirk
Krug - Goligoski

The only two from the current team I'd take over even the worst 2 from that lineup are Carlsson and Suter

Kane screwed up, but it's also the byproduct of the roster. He feels like if he doesn't create the offense then there won't be any offense, and you can't blame him with the roster choices. You can't leave half of your best offensive weapons home and expect a few guys to do all the heavy lifting. They won't all be clicking every game and when a few struggle, the other guys can't pick up that inevitable slack.

Yeah on that 2 on 0 there was no effort on the back check from the American side.

Now they could still beat both Canada and Czech to advance, but those aren't good odds. So it's pretty embarassing that the NHL rigs the group so Canada and US can go through to the semi's and hopefully meet in the finals, only for the US to lose the first game against what should have been a gimme.

If it plays out how it looks like it will Team USA needs a full revamp moving forward. The kids were great in 2010 winning silver, but since then the team has done nothing. For the next best on best they should ditch the majority of this 84-90 born group and go with a more skilled 90+ team under new coaching and management. For the past 5 or so years the USA has had the better of Canada at the World Juniors, they should play to that strength.
