Defence and Wingers look super solid. Center position and goalktending if no King Henrik looks weak.

NHL players will almost certainly not be participating in 2018, so this discussion is almost pointless at this point;)

I doubt Sedin or even Zetterberg will be there. Zetterberg might be there but the same role Alfredsson had this year.

Landeskog Bäckström xx
Zetterberg xxx Nyquist
Zibanejad Söderberg Eriksson
Hagelin Krüger xxx

Hjalmarsson Karlsson
OEL Granberg
Hedman Strålman
Lindholm Brodin

Lundqvist

We have a really good defence but not many good forwards or goalie depth. Hopefully Burakowsky, Wennberg,Rakell or somone of the forward prospects pan out.

Personally I would be suprised if Elias Lindholm doesn't pan out but still you have a point the forward depth is a bit weak.

I would be extremely surprised if one or two of our three dozen forward prospects aren't first liners in another four years. It's just hard to say who.

Goalies too. There's like 10 guys who are almost equal behind Lundqvist, when you have that many guys at the same time someone will step up and become very good eventually

Olympics or not, there will definitely be best-on-best tournaments in the future too.

Pretty sure Nemeth will be in the squad as a stay home d-men. He even played for Dallas during the latter stages of this season and in the playoffs. He didn't looked lost on the ice at all. And he can also use his size and body quite well.

Klefbom might be pushing for a spot as well. (among others)

I probably scratch Ericsson who I don't think is up to the rest of the listed defensemen's level. (from that top 8-9 of yours)

VERY excited about these prospect of having the two players taking steps forward. Thinkin' heavy and skilled defense here a la 2014's Canada team. Team Sweden have essentially the same core for four more years with lots of time for younger players to fill important roles. Strålman only 31. Impression is he's been around forever. Maybe Grossmann and Edler haven't reached their peak yet, either... Hell, Erik Karlsson might be a healthy scratch or something.

Erik Karlsson 27 182 82 ---- Victor Hedman ---- 27 198 105
Oliver Ekman Larsson 26 188 86 ---- Alexander Edler 31 193 100
Hampus Lindholm 24 189 88 ---- Niklas Hjalmarsson 30 187 94
Jonas Brodin 24 185 88 ---- Oscar Klefbom 24 192 96
Anton Strålman 31 185 88 ---- Jonathan Ericsson 33 195 102
Mattias Ekholm 27 192 94 ---- Patrik Nemeth 25 192 96
Robert Hägg 22 188 94 / Adam Larsson 25 190 91 ---- Nicklas Grossmann 33 193 105

Think the Sedins, though they'll be 38 in 2018, will be invited to play for Team Sweden if the NHL goes to South Korea for the Olympics.

Thinkin' is good! 37 years and 40 games. Whenever there is a Sedin on our fourth line the gold is ours. Wonder who their ***** (Jörgen Jönsson) will be this time? Filip Forsberg?

It's pretty much clear now, no olympic participation for NHL players and it'll be a Canada Cup (errm, I mean "World Cup") in 2016. **** the NHL.

Because the NHL are run by greedy, profit hungry ******** that don't care one bit for the actual sport, that's why.

How's it clear? There has no been no talks in regarding the Olympics and we won't probably know until 2017 or after the results of the World Cup. The players ultimately have final say, and we know how badly they want to go, it's just a matter of how much they have to give up for the NHL to accept and for both sides to come to an agreement. I still see the NHL allowing players for 2018 and future Olympics, as long as the players want to attend, a way will be found.

Winter games in Asia might sell a few NHL hockey computer games as well. Maybe ASIA could assemble a team from different nationalities? Or wait... does Russia count as asians?

We can count them as Asians, I mean judging by the fact they have as much chance as any other Asian country in winning Olympic Hockey Gold. :sarcasm:

I like the chances for Sweden in 2016. Obviously, not as much as for Canada :) but....I think their d-men could be even more effective on NHL ice (Kronwall, Hedman, Oduya, Karlsson) Their offense could be better than now - with Ekman-Larsson, Brodin, maybe A.Larsson, Lindholm ...

It will come down to how goog will the Sedins, Backstrom, and Zetterberg be, IMO. Sweden is going to have a very solid depth, but it's important how well the top-6 will play at the time. The next players are solid too....Landeskog, Berglund, Steen, Eriksson ....and also the young guns - F.Forsberg, Zibanejad, Slivferberg... I think Sweden is the best European team now and will be in 2016 as well.

Yes, top 6 is a small worry. Growing older fast. We need an unexpected breakthru from a 19-21 year old now. Like Forsberg in 92 or Sundin in 91. Bäckström is closing in on Ovechkin i Washington.

Swedish players who do well on international Surface once are almost in the team for Life.

A breakthrough from Wennberg and/or Lindholm, and we look very strong on C.

Will Sedins and Z still be good for top 6 in 2016?

Zetterberg - Bäckström - Nyquist
Landeskog - Lindholm - F.Forsberg/Alfredsson :naughty:

2016 is only 18 months away so why not. Remove on player per position below! Scratches already include Nyquist, Ekman-Larsson and Nilsson in my personal lineup. Hope Hörnqvist will get some recognition now when he might play with the Kidneyburgher

Zetterberg - Bäckström - Lindholm
Sedin - Sedin - Silfverberg
Steen - Berglund - Landeskog
Eriksson - Söderberg - Johansson
Hagelin - Backlund - Hörnqvist

Edler - Karlsson
Brodin - Hedman
Hjalmarsson - Ericsson
Ekholm - Grossmann
Lindholm

Lundqvist
Enroth
Lehner / Läck
Wait.. you want to scratch Nyquist?

Also unsure about Sedins, will they be good for top 6 in 2016?

On smaller ice, i'd like to see Landeskog get a big role, he hasn't really showed up in the NT yet, but on smaller ice along with a couple of years older might be what it takes. Hörnqvist might also have a good chance now that he is in PIT.

This team is so hard to select right now. But maybe something like this?

Nyquist - Zetterberg - Steen
Landeskog - Bäckström - Hörnqvist
Sedin - Sedin - Eriksson
Hagelin - Krüger - Zibanejad
Lindholm

Hjalmarsson - Karlsson
Brodin - Hedman
OEL - Kronwall
Lindholm - Strålman

Lundqvist
Läck
