I see our needs differently. I see a need for a Milan Lucic who will stop other teams from taking runs at OEL and our smallish, young forwards. I know that we don't need a LW, but we need protection for our talent in the worst way. If Boston wants to part with Chara, I'd take him in a country second. We need size and grit. We don't need size without grit and we don't need grit without size.

I don't really like Okposo much. Only slightly more than Boedker, really. Who else is out there?

Lets not forget Versteeg and Perron. they are listed as LWs but are both RHSs.

Wiercioch not qualified, he looks like an advanced stat darling

Have to be careful with guys that get limited TOI. Their underlying numbers don't necessarily scale with more time and an increased role. See Rundblad.

Numbers are around where they were last year in 17-18ish avg toi over the last two years. Offense fell off a cliff though. Could possibly be bottom pairing guy

Also, his most common line mate was Ceci who was a possession nightmare.

30 seconds of PK time a game despite his size and supposed defensive ability is a red flag to me. Plus Sens fans are super happy he's gone.

yea, yea. We still have little Domi as the only one willing to drop the gloves to protect OEL. We need one, at least one, big mean guy on the team. I don't care what position he plays as long as he is a regular player and can hold his own water on his line.

Latta not qualified. Will be free-agent. Michael Latta would make quite a good 13th forward. He's a right-handed shot. Plays a high energy, combative game. Fights middle weight problem players and does so rather effectively(has 18 fights in 100gp). Doesn't take very many minor penalties (had 50PIM with 8 fighting majors last season). He actually fights to defend teammates. Does not hurt his team defensively at all (extremely high suppression numbers, probably mostly because of favorable zone starts, overall sheltering and limited minutes played). Can take face-offs (won half of his 700 career) and has room to grow into a solidified role, as he's just 25. He could develop into a RHS version of Chipchura who actually has a pair of balls.

This, let's get some balls

Matt Martin is a FA, probably the best fit.

Martin - Latta - Brown

I hope Martinook and Richardson are both 4th liners next season. If they're two thirds of our third line and we have a whole 4th line of players worse than them, we're really going to suck.

I worry he's a good candidate to get one of those way too rich enforcer contracts. These guys have to be hungry, desperate even.

I don't think it can really hurt the Coyotes. 3 years, 2 million should get him to sign. If he's a plug by the third year it doesn't matter. He leads the league in hits usually and was 2nd in fights.

I wonder if we'll get aggressive and try and sign someone like Murphy long term. Could potentially get a steal of a deal

in a perfect world, Doan as a 4th liner & PP specialist works.

Versteeg is a name that seems to fit on many levels - versatile, has scored 20 a couple or three times, has experience in winning environments.

Sign him up GMJC/DT.

Look at KConn relative to Dahlbeck!

Yeah, KConn is the better player in every regard. The choice must be contractually or personality driven. Maybe they think they can get Dahlbeck cheap and don't really risk losing him on waivers if they want to send him down. Q heavily recommend Klas so it could be a mancrush situation on the part of Tippett.

It's pretty clear if you watch the two players and look at their numbers that KConn is just flat out better at the 3LHD spot.

Having 2 strong pairings means your 3rd can specialize more, though.

Dahlbeck is better on the PK. After Gogo there is no one on the left side. :dunno:

I'm interested in Latta at 4RW, but Doan was pretty effective with Nook and Richardson last season too. I'd keep that line together, which would help manage Doan's 5v5 minutes and keep him fresh for PP duty. Then get two middle 6 RWs. Latta would do fine as a 13th.

Domi - Hanzal - Duclair
Reider - Strome - ??
Dvorak - Vermette - ??
Martinook - Richardson - Doan

I agree, we are soft upfront, all over if you want the real truth. We do need a Lucic type, but not his salary.
