I once got food poisoning from an egg salad sandwich from a Tim Hortons in Swift Current, so based on my anecdotal evidence of things that come from Swift Current, I dislike this pick.

This is a great pick this late in the draft. Apparently a really good skater who makes smart decisions with and without the puck. Was rated much higher.

Bob Lowes said on the radio that he had mono the 2nd half of the season. Played underweight without much energy.

I think this was the case with Colin White as well. I like what I've read of this guy especially that he's really mobile. Always like getting strong skating Dmen.

You brought it on yourself.

As for the pick... I don't know.

NHL Central Scouting had him ranked 44th for American Skaters.

Lowe said they were surprised to see him fall so far and took him

from nhl:

• The 95th overall selection in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft ranked second in scoring among WHL rookie defensemen with 7-34—41 in his 2014-15 campaign (72 GP), trailing only Philadelphia Flyers prospect Ivan Provorov (15-46—61).

• In 2015-16, the competitive two-way defenseman led club blueliners in goals, assists and points with 8-29—37 in 62 games as alternate captain of the Swift Current Broncos.

Man, we seem to take guys like this (guys who slide down in the draft due to injury) every year.

I like it. Take a chance that the more skilled player can overcome the setback.

From FC, as respect to them I wont post whole summary. But here is half:

Lajoie is a cerebral player who can flash his elaborate skill set, but first uses his smarts to find appropriate times to do so. He is a great skater, using his speed both forward and backward to lead the rush or stick to with an opponent defensively. He is strong on his edges and can get himself out of some pickles by being crafty instead of pressing the speed-burst button during pressure situations. Lajoie is a relaxed defender who slows the game down and makes smart choices instead of making rash decisions. He is able to play under a lot of pressure and take some physical punishment, always finding an effective play to get the puck out of danger. He is a strong puckmover who can distribute with finesse or play a possession game.
NHL POTENTIAL: Middle-Pairing Two-Way Defenseman

If you want the whole thing PM me.

Interested how he does next season with the big role all year.

Found this (might make tears on your face),

I looked into this guy before the draft. I think we got a really good value pick here. I thought he could go in the 3rd/4th.

Hmm... seems like our drafting strategy is go after the guy who had mono.

Personally I think the plan is to have the whole team immune to mono then release a mono epidemic the year we want to make our run

Doiron says he was in their top 10

Um where/when did he say that? If he was in their top 10 they would have taken him with their 4th, not their 5th.

Do you mean top 10 Dmen? Cause even that seems like a stretch
