:handclap: love tracking the prospects

We've got Jens Looke starting out impressive so far after a week and a half and Kallgren the goalie is also starting out well.

I'll be updating as soon as we find out where everyone will land and include some more guys from Tucson when the team is finalized.

Great job taking all this on again, thanks.

Did a bit of digging on the Swedish players, but stand to be corrected by absolutely anyone who has more of a clue.

David Westlund has joined the same team as Lööke again (both came through at Brynäs) at Timrå. He's yet to play a game as he's still coming back from knee surgery, which I assume is the injury that kept him out most of last year. A google translated quote from his new coach: "He played 53 games with Brynäs in the SHL two years ago and did very well, then was recruited by Karlskrona and was supposed to take the next step. He had bad luck and was injured and made just 10-15 matches last year. Now, I think this is a good way for David to get back to SHL in the future, hopefully with Timra, with much playing time in Allsvenskan. He is a well-built guy."

(SHL is the top Swedish league, all our prospects are playing in the second tier, Allsvenskan, which I guess would be swe-2)?

TimrÃ¥ finished 8th last year in Allsvenskan. A quote from Lööke's draft profile last year - "I want to have a regular spot with my team [Brynäs] back home next season and play a lot so I can show the Coyotes that I’m ready for the AHL." That didn't happen as he only played 5 games in the SHL last year where it's really hard for teens to break through, & instead went on loan to Almtuna in the Allsvenskan. With his contract up this summer he signed for TimrÃ¥ hoping for the playing time needed for his development. If he's still eager to play in the AHL and maintains this early season form, I would guess he'll be offered a Coyotes contract sometime this season or for the start of next.

Lööke appears to be playing on the second line with 2017 potential first rounder LW Elias Pettersson. I think he is on the second power play unit too. Ottawa's 2nd round pick last year Jonathan Dahlén looks good and plays on the top line.

Oskarshamn (Källgren & Karlsson's team) have been outshot every game so far. They finished 3rd in the league last year but I assume they're predicted to be worse as over the summer they lost their top goalie, goalscorer & defenceman, in fact most of their defence. Fun fact - it seems like Oskarshamn and other teams have a supporter's fund that gets used to sign a special player. Oskarshamn fans raised over $10,000 to sign experienced defenceman Jonas Liwing this summer: http://www.ikoskarshamn.se/artikel/s197aiqe5-2egc1/ (swedish link).

Goalie Källgren backed up Dan Bakala last year (starting 20 out of 52 games). His non-Coyotes rights are still owned by SHL team Linköping - he's at Oskarshamn on loan for the second straight season. Oskarshamn also brought in Wictor Ragnewall over the summer, who had the highest sv% in the league last year (min. 20 games played) for Tingsryds. Källgren started the first game of the season and looks like he should get the majority of the split, but it looks like good competition for him. Ragnewall has had a tough start, giving up 7 goals in his 2 starts. Oskarshamn have won all 4 games Kalgren's played.

Anton Karlsson looks to be playing on the third line.

League highlights can be found here: http://www.hockeyallsvenskan.se/play
Timrå (Lööke & Westlund's team) = TIK.
Oskarshamn (Källgren & Karlsson) = IKO.

Notable player numbers:
TIK: (Red home jersey; White road)
Lööke = 81; Westlund when he returns = 63; draft eligible Elias Pettersson = 14
IKO: (Blue home; White road)
goalie Källgren = 31; Karlsson = 85.

Thanks for that update cactus. All of our Swedish prospects seem like long shots if they're all in AHL feeder league. Any of them have a legit shot at NHL ?

Hopefully someone else can answer as I have no idea what the quality of the leagues are really like, but I think sticking in the SHL would be almost as difficult, for newly drafted prospects, as going straight into the AHL (higher skill and skating in the SHL, more physical AHL? to generalise). William Nylander-like dominant draft+1 seasons are incredibly rare OEL, Ekholm and Filip Forsberg all played their draft+1 seasons in the second tier. Calgary's Backlund played part of his draft+2 season there. Söderberg played in the SHL in his draft year, but also spent 5 seasons in the second tier.

So no reason to write any player off, even if all face an uphill battle like any players drafted after the first two rounds. Just on paper, Westlund was on an impressive trajectory before last season. Källgren is interesting as he was described by Bernhardt at the draft as a late bloomer, but is playing at a high level given his age. He'll be interesting to follow. Karlsson and Lööke are the only two I've actually seen on TV at the World Juniors. Lööke lööked good in those games last year, I thought. Hopefully in a year he can be positioned like Bunting, looking to steal a spot in the bottom six.

Although it was against I'm assuming a very weak team PEI (Prince Edward Island)...Clayton Keller recorded a "Hat Trick" in his first game as a Boston Terriers. :handclap:

Pretty sure that was just an exhibition game too and not regular season, more curious to see how he does tonight against his old American U-18 team in their last pre-season game.

He's come up with a scoring chance every shift. Usually a few of them. In for a big year.

It doesn't look like the competition is competitive tonight, but I've sure been impressed with Keller's play. Excellent speed, smart passes, good positioning, and very good vision. Loved that shorty slapper. I can see why Chayka was so high on him.
