2017-02-09 Matt Bailey (C) Stockton DEL Released from SPC
2017-02-10 Jonathan Carlsson (D) Rockford DEL Released from SPC

Bailey is headed to Sweden (Carlsson might be headed there aswell)

In 17 games with the Heat, Bailey contributed 7 points, 2 goals and 5 assists. He started the season in the ECHL where he registered 9 points in 6 games

Here is the reason why many AHL and ECHL players have left for Europe over the past few weeks.

European clubs lure North American players away by offering a significantly higher salary than domestic minor league teams, and enticing option for players especially those without realistic chances of appearing in the NHL, making the ECHL level a primary target for leagues over seas.

Gone to Slovakia finally!

Bartkowski has been released by Providence. He is expected to sign a contract with Calgary in the upcoming days.

Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has released forward Allan McPherson from his Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.

McPherson, who had been with the Wolf Pack since December 5, skated in 28 games with Hartford, contributing one goal and three assists for four points and serving 14 minutes in penalties.

is a PTO 25 games the player appears in or 25 games played by the team?

the way I've always understood it is, 1 25, AND CAN BE RELEASED at any time, 2nd 25, same scenario, but the 3rd 25, HAS TO BE FOR THE SEASON, and its the same example depending at what point the player was signed in, JW, unless the contract changed from an PTO TO an SPC...

WE're also getting to the stage now, where the ATO TERMINOLOGY comes into play.

It seems like the list of players signed to AHL SPCs is melting like the snow in Montreal...

Players who were recently released from their SPCs
2017-02-22 Connor Jones (C) Bridgeport DEL Released from SPC
Signed a 1-year contract (remainder of the 16-17 season) with NYI.

2017-02-23 Jeff Glass (G) Rockford DEL Released from SPC
Signed a 2-year deal with Chicago.

2017-02-28 Kevin Rooney (C) Albany DEL Released from SPC
Signed a 1-year contract with New Jersey.

2017-02-28 Mike Weber (D) Iowa DEL Released from SPC
Signed a 1-year contract with Minnesota

2017-02-28 Marc-Andre Bergeron (D) Cleveland DEL Released from PTO
Signed a 1-year contract with Columbus.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've also removed Quentin Shore's name from the list as there are some conflicting reports on his contract status.

The ECHL site seems to believe that he is signed to an AHL contract

ECHL TRANSACTIONS – FEB. 5
Manchester:
Delete Quentin Shore, F recalled by Ontario (AHL)

While Ontario's official web site reported that Shore was on a PTO during his time with Ontario.

Miles Koules, who was recently released from his SPC contract with Ontario but later rejoined the team on a PTO, has also been released. The 22-year old forward was held off from the scoresheet in two AHL contests.

What I wrote in another thread regarding this loan/trade

Smith is very familiar with the Avs' organisation. One year ago, he was traded to Toronto along with a fourth round draft pick for Shawn Matthias. He was later signed to an AHL by the Marlies during the offseason.

Brandon Whitney

Anyone knows what happen with Brandon Whitney ? Traded to Springfield last fall, but 0 GP, not on active roster, not on any ECHL teams, can't find anything on an injury ?

Someone has info on him ?

Thanks

Actually all the players included in the tab are signed to PTOs. They were still some players on "Unknown contracts" a few weeks ago but we were finally able to confirm their status.

I believe that he has quietly retired. He didn't even show up to Milwaukee's camp in September and somehow his rights were traded to Springfield.

Tucson Roadrunners General Manager Doug Soetaert announced today that the Edmonton Oilers have reassigned defenseman David Musil to the club for the remainder of the season. The Roadrunners also loaned forward Mark Olver to the Condors.

Olver was on an AHL contract wth Tucson

--------------------------------------
Montreal Canadiens and St. John’s IceCaps General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today the IceCaps have signed forward Guillaume Asselin to a one-year AHL/ECHL contract.

The 24-year-old, Quebec City native just completed a four-year stint with the University of Quebec at Trois Rivieres of the Ontario University Athletics conference. Asselin’s only previous professional experience came in 2013-14 when he skated in 11 games with Greenville of the ECHL. The five-foot-11, 194-pounder will report to the Canadiens’ ECHL affiliate – the Brampton Beast – tomorrow.

This contract is uniquely for the remainder of the 2016-2017 season. However Asselin seems to be highly regarded by the Canadians organisation. In addition to his AHL contract, Asselin also attended Montreal's camp this september.

Here are more details about this deal (quote in French) :
Ils veulent que je joue cinq matchs avec Brampton afin d'être éligible pour les séries éliminatoires, comme ce n'est pas assuré que les IceCaps y participeront. Par la suite, je devrais éventuellement être rappelé», explique l'ancien des Saguenéens de Chicoutimi au niveau junior.

Asselin will report to Brampton (ECHL) were he'll play at least 5 games before eventually joining the IceCaps. This move will make him eligible to play in the ECHL playoffs.
