The Milwaukee Admirals announced today that they have signed defenseman Jimmy Oligny to a two-year, American Hockey League contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2017-18 season.

----------------------------------
Turning pro :

It didn’t take former Scituate star goaltender Jamie Murray a long time to achieve his dream of playing professional hockey (...)

“I got a call from my agent last Sunday, the day after we lost in our league championship to end our season,” Murray said. “He told me the San Jose Sharks organization was really interested in signing me for next year. They flew me out on Tuesday to be with their AHL team and I signed an AHL contract this past Thursday for next year.”

From a AHL deal to a NHL contract
The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Carter Rowney to a two-year contract, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.

The two-way deal begins with the 2016-17 season and runs through the 2017-18 campaign, and has an average annual value of $612,500.

Rowney, 26, ranks second in scoring this season on WBS with 39 points in 58 games. He has already established career highs in goals (17), assists (22), points (39) and plus-minus (+22). His plus-22 leads the team and is tied for 10th best in the AHL.

Same goes for Jack Flinn and Mark Naclerio

Told that goalie Jack Flinn's deal is a two-year AHL contract.

Also, just yesterday, he was nominated for OHL Overage Player of the Year.

Chicago signed their first player for 2016-2017

The Chicago Wolves announced Wednesday that left wing Emerson Clark has signed a standard player contract (SPC) for the 2016-17 season.

Clark, 23, contributed 2 goals, 5 assists and 62 penalty minutes in the Wolves’ final 29 games of the 2015-16 season while playing on a professional tryout contract (PTO). The Whitby, Ontario, native made his Chicago and American Hockey League debuts on Feb. 13 and scored his first AHL goal in his second game.

Prior to joining the Wolves, the 5-foot-10, 200-pound Clark produced 15 goals, 11 assists and 96 penalty minutes in 32 games for the Tulsa Oilers (ECHL). He has notched 39 goals, 33 assists in 569 penalty minutes in 153 career ECHL games.

2016 AHL UFAs signed to new contracts.
RALEIGH, NC – Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Jake Chelios on a one-year, two-way contract. The deal will pay Chelios $575,000 at the NHL level, or $70,000 on the American Hockey League (AHL) level in 2016-17.

“Jake was a steady presence for Charlotte last season in his first full season playing defense,†said Francis. “He showed that he can contribute offensively and, at 25, he fits in well with our organization’s young defensemen.â€

Chelios, 25, led the Hurricanes’ AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, in games played in 2015-16, skating in 73 of the team’s 76 games. He ranked second among team defensemen in assists (24) and points (31), and tied for second among Checkers blueliners in goals (7). In 118 career AHL regular-season games, Chelios has scored eight goals and earned 39 assists (47 points) with Charlotte and the Chicago Wolves.

The 2015-16 season marked the second full professional campaign for Chelios (6’2â€, 185 lbs.) after splitting 2014-15 between the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) and Chicago (AHL). Prior to turning professional, the Chicago native played four seasons at Michigan State University, earning 54 points (17g, 37a) in 154 career games with the Spartans, including 21 points (2g, 19a) to lead team defensemen in his senior season. Chelios is the son of Hockey Hall of Fame defenseman and current Detroit Red Wings assistant coach Chris Chelios.

Nashville Predators announced Thursday that the club has signed forward Adam Payerl to a one-year contract worth $575,000 at the NHL level and $75,000 at the AHL level in 2016-17.

The Chicago Wolves announced Monday that forward Bryce Gervais (“zhur-VAY”) has signed a two-year standard player contract (SPC).

Gervais joined the Wolves on an amateur tryout contract (ATO) on March 24 and proceeded to deliver 4 goals, 2 assists and a +3 plus/minus rating while playing in Chicago’s final 10 games of the 2015-16 season.

The 24-year-old from Battleford, Saskatchewan, made his Wolves debut less than a week after completing his four-year college career with Minnesota State University. Gervais racked up 67 goals for the Mavericks — tied for second on the school’s career list during its Division I era — and added 34 assists while playing in 163 consecutive games.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward paced Minnesota State during the 2015-16 season with 16 goals and finished second with 26 points. He earned third-team all-WCHA honors for his efforts.

Gervais joins forward Emerson Clark on the list of Chicago skaters under contract for the 2016-17 season.
