PG loses to Portland and now it looks like the Rockets control their own destiny. If both teams win out it will come down to goals for/goals against and currently the Rockets have a better ratio (and 3 games vs. Vancouver).

Doesn't P.G. have the better head to head record which is the first time breaker

Hopefully for the league. I would hate to see any team lose in the playoffs because their players are out with the bloody mumps.

Sounds like the Blazers "threw" the game tonight to meet Kelowna in round 1 and avoid the Cougars. Sat Sideroff, Valentine, and Smith in favour of AP's. Jon Keen on the Blazers broadcast mentioned they were splitting up icetime throughout the lineup pretty good. Not to mention letting Guhle play out 30 or so seconds behind his own net with a minute left. God I hope the Rockets make quick work of them for that. Should be a good series at least.

What the hell are you talking about? Take off your tin foil hat. Kamloops iced a young lineup, and after the last couple beatings from PG, why would you think they wouldn't of rathered spoil the Cougars party in PG as opposed to sticking it to Kelowna who for the most part, they've beaten up on this year.

Short work? We'll see. beaten up on the Giants isn't playing Kamloops.

First place is nice, but that shootout was ********. Puck hits the post, then off Edmonds back and in. He reaches back and saves it on the line. Ref waves no goal, so he lets off and it rolls in. They reverse it and call a goal.

Not sure what you are saying here? But, yes the Blazers would absolutely rather play Kelowna who they have had more success against this season than the Cougars. Don't get me wrong, the young guys played well tonight to get the result they did. Ferguson likely stole the game for them. But where theres smoke theres fire.

I'm not saying they will, I just hope they do. Realistically this series like goes the distance.

How often do you see an NHL team make the playoffs, know they are finishing third, sixth, second or whatever place, then rest their top players to avoid injuries heading into the first round. Happens every year.

It was the right call.

What did they have to play for? Spoiling the Cougars party isn't exactly in their future plans.

This happens every season in the NHL, so why is it a problem here?

I hope Victoria pulls it together here. They've been in a tailspin down the stretch.

Not much to play for other than trying to get a hold of the Cougars who they went 2-5 against this season (before tonight). Only playing .500 in their last 10 going into the playoffs as well, why not try and gain some momentum?

Just because it happens in the NHL doesn't make it better. It sucks there too.

No it doesn't suck, it makes sense. It makes sense at any level, under the same circumstances.

Would they have preferred Kelowna over PG? Perhaps. So it could work wonderfully for them - play a team they matchup better against and get to rest some players which is much needed.

There's no point risking injuries in a meaningless game and especially beating up on players already milking injuries as we speak.

PG would've done the same if nothing was on the line here.

Once again the Blazers sat players out like EVERY team does before playoffs so they can be healthy for Playoffs. Their job isn't to strategize what they do so the Rockettes can win the Division. Get real.

Finally made it back out to the CN centre last night. Say right behind the blazers bench, what a great atmosphere. Wasn't happy with the call in the shootout but what can you do, still had a great night. Go cats!

Let's end this discussion right here if we are going to start saying **** like this. Like c'mon, we are better than that. Is there merit to the point that the Blazers were resting/healing guys? Sure. I'll accept that. It is still a shame we couldn't get quality vs. quality. Let's move on, lots of fun to come in the WHL playoffs.
