The host country for the 2015 World Junior Championship made the most of its home-ice advantage as Team Canada made an unbeaten run through the preliminary and playoff rounds to secure the gold medal, their first at this tournament since 2009. Canada defeated Russia in the gold medal game, 5-4, making it the fifth straight year that Russia has earned a medal at the World Juniors.
