It's a shame that this year, any of the teams out of the playoffs can get McDavid.

Don't know how much of a shame it'll be if the lottery ends up producing some crazy fire-works.

There's potential here for some ridiculously insane lottery outcome, which could be really fun for the game.

That, and let's be honest - it's another reason for people to laugh at the Oilers.

I disagree (if I remember how the lottery changed). I think any team past #3 has an increased chance of winning the lottery this year. I don't think the Leafs will fall to bottom 3, so our chance increased slightly.

EDIT: the cutoff is 4th place. If you finish 5th last or better in the standings, the new format is helpful to the Leafs. What I hate is that the top-3/5 picks are draft lottery. Make it pretty boring and means you're guaranteed to get at least #2 pick if you're the worst team.
