The last of the 2015-16 seniors on the St. Cloud State men's hockey team has signed a pro contract.

Joey Benik has signed an amateur tryout contract for the rest of this season and a one-year deal with the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League. Bakersfield is the top minor league team of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers. It is a one-way deal for Benik, meaning that if another NHL team wanted to, it could call Benik up during the season.

Anybody can sign him but isn't there an unwritten honour-among-thieves kind of rule that discourages organizations from signing one another's AHL contracted players? I seem to recall that from somewhere.
