Realizing I might have given the D a few too many points.

Then again with 3 v 3 OT our D might see a bump in their stats. I could see us going two D and a forward with the way our D can skate.

243 goals, would be a new Wild record I think?!

Predictions:

Vanek continues to transform into a pass first player.
Zucker scores a ton.
Pomenville continues his decline in talent.
Folin scores close to as many points as Brodin, with significantly less ice time.
Granlund scores LESS than 50 points.
Carter scores close to 20 points.
Scandella... NOT Dumba lead all defensemen in goals.
Strachan doesn't play more than 1 game for the Wild, and Mike Rielly is sent down quickly, after disappointing everyone with a horrible defensive play.
Carter, Prosser, Coyle and Folin lead the team in fighting majors for the year.

YIKES, half way thru the season, and looks like I was FAR too optimistic for many of these players.

Pomenville, Granlund, Nino and Zucker lead my Fail team.:cry:

Granlund is on pace for 45 points, not that far off from what you predicted.

I was one of two to predict less than 50 points for Poms, and it turns out I that I was wildly optimistic !

so I guessed that the Finns would have 120 pts. between them. They are at 122 right now, and would guess they will get to 130. Will be fun to revisit this thread at the end of the regular season.

Since I'm on my posting spree right now... curious to see how this turned out. I was within 3 points on Coyle, Nino, Scandella, Spurgeon. Way off on some others.

237 goals, which now sounds really too much.

Okay, lets see. Wild scored 213 goals, so I overestimated by 24 goals.

Koivu exceeded my expectations with 17+39=56, +9 points
Parise ended up where I thought
Graovac did nothing due to injuries
Carter was a positive surprise with 7+5, +5 points and contributed with goals
Coyle with 21+21 was a superb surprise. +9 points
Granlund ended up right where I thought he'd end up with.
Haula was the best surprise of them all. +16 points
Schroeder was a complete failure -9points
Vanek busted hard -14 points
Zucker busted hard too -14 points
Fontaine also underperformed -10 points
Nino ended up right where I had him
Pominville was the biggest bust -20 points
Brodin failed hard pointwise -19 points
Suter was a very pleasant surprise with tremendous production +12 points
Dumba ended up right where I had him
Spurgeon was a slightly better than expected, +4 points
Scandella was right there where expected
Reilly too was performing as expected (on pace for a lot more if played 82 though)
Folin was surprisingly bad, -6 points, on pace for more though
Prosser was right there where expected.
Strachan was a non-factor.

Performance in tiers.

Better than expected
Koivu
Carter
Coyle
Haula
Suter
Spurgeon
Reilly

As expected
Parise
Granlund
Nino
Dumba
Scandella
Prosser (If you don't expect anything...)

Worse than expected
Folin
Fontaine
Schroeder
Vanek
Zucker
Pominville
Brodin

Non-factor
Graovac
Strachan

So deriving from that, guys who we should think about moving are found from the 3rd group.
Folin - is okay depth D with fine small contract and no value so no reason to move him.
Schroeder - is fine in the AHL but shouldn't really see time in the NHL other than emergency call-up so no value.
Fontaine - might have some value, so he's someone we should look to move, but he's an UFA so can't really move him. I don't know about re-signing him. Might be good for the organization to actually change a bit.
Vanek - The next season will be his last with this contract. He has a NTC iirc so he'll probably play his contract out here. Re-signing him is an option if he's cheap enough. At least he's different from the responsible 2-way player -mold and has some real goal-scoring skill. But he's so infuriating sometimes. I don't know.
Zucker - Sell low? He could be moved but I would only move him as a part of a bigger package. Should be one of the parts used if trade happens for a young #1 C. Otherwise he has the potential to bounce back and score goals.
Pominville - you found your place with Nino and Haula. Please continue doing your part on that line. Can't really buy him out as that backfires with cap penalties for a looong time. Just keep playing him.
Brodin - please get your offensive game together too, as I've seen flashes of them. I never want to trade you.

My conclusion of the season:
Don't re-sign Fontaine, try to package Zucker with something to receive more offensive player upgrades and keep at it. Throw Prosser to the wolves. Timberwolves.

Was way too high on Zucker, Fontaine, Brodin, Pominville
Was way too low on Haula, Suter, Koivu.

But hey I got Reilly/Spurgeon pretty dead on.
