Team USA started their quarterfinal contest against Russia on the offensive, scoring three goals to take a 3-2 lead into the first intermission. But a string of USA penalties in the second period swung the momentum towards Russia as they scored the last three goals of the game to take the win, 5-3.
One USA player that made the scoresheet in this game was forward Jack Eichel, who drew an assist on the opening goal by Stefan Matteau. Eichel, a 2015 NHL Draft-eligible prospect who currently plays for the U.S. National Team Development Program (NTDP), has had a productive tournament in his first U20 WJC appearance.… read more
