My First Round Picks

Here are the First Round Picks I have settled on...Sarnia already picked Chychrun but that was a lock...For what it's worth I have my 2nd round finished but will wait until later today(after 3PM) to post in case any trades are completed that alter the 2nd round order.. IMHO I expect the Petes to trade their 3rd 2nd round pick as well as the Spits to trade pick #40 either up or back....

1. Sarnia Sting - Jakob Chychrun, D
2. Kitchener Rangers - Adam Mascherin, F
3. Ottawa 67's - Brandon Saigeon, F
4. Belleville Bulls- Tye Felhaber, F
5. Mississ Steelheads- Michael McLeod, F
6. Niagara Ice Dogs – Travis Barron, F
7. Plymouth Whalers – Jonathon Ang, F
8. Owen Sound Attack - Cliff Pu, F
9. Peterborough Petes – Taylor Raddish, F
10. Saginaw Spirit - Michael Pezzetta, F
11. Sudbury Wolves –- Logan Stanley, D
12. Windsor Spitfires – Logan Brown, F
13. Barrie Colts – Matt Hotchkiss, F

According to Sean Lafortune, OS has traded into the 39 and 40 slots.

OwenSound has the 32 pick now from Ptbo. (Originally from Windsor)

Based on an interview Marty Williamson had with the local newspaper, I'd say they are looking at Felhaber.

http://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/2014/04/02/dogs-seek-skilled-player-in-draft

“We’re looking for a guy who brings a different dimension to the table, whether he’s the fastest guy in the draft or the best playmaker,†IceDogs head coach/GM Marty Williamson said. “I think we have a lot of size and a lot of good things going forward on this team, but down the road I would like to plug that guy in.â€

Size won’t matter for the IceDogs.

I found this interesting and puzzling from that article.

"There are two under-sized, highly skilled forwards projected to be available as well as a “safe pick†on right wing and a “big, shutdown defenceman†who would be a year away from making an impact with an OHL club.

I dont understand why the Dogs would even ponder taking a Dman 6th overall when he will need 1 year. I agree that Dman needs a year but selecting that early and waiting on a player is questionable but with that being said, they pick a forward all day long.

A few teams are going to sh_ _ the bed tomorrow if they didnt do their homework.

No, Windsor never had their own 2nd round pick.

Oh, okay. This is what threw me off...

IMHO I expect the Petes to trade their 3rd 2nd round pick as well as the Spits to trade pick #40 either up or back....

Sounded like he expected Windsor to trade pick 40, then...

According to Sean Lafortune, OS has traded into the 39 and 40 slots.

Confused me.

I posted this in the 67's off season thread.

This is interesting.

From SB Nation College Hockey.

http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/jun...-selection-preview-the-dirtiest-day-in-sports

-Another American listed as a potential top 5-talent is power forward Logan Brown, son of former NHLer Jeff Brown. Brown has reportedly committed to the NTDP for one season, but TheScout.ca has him in the first round of their most recent mock draft and it seems likely he'll play his NHL draft year in the OHL. Brown's father Jeff is coach of the Indiana Ice in the USHL. The Ice will likely be going dormant at the end of the season(It's all but official. The league is just waiting for their season to end before announcing it). Rumors have been swirling leading up to the draft that the Ottawa 67s will hire the elder Brown as a coach as an enticement to get the younger Brown to sign.

If you read anything posted earlier in the thread you would know that OwenSound has the 32nd pick, not Oshawa.

No Lazarev?

Erie owns the 28th pick, it was originally Owen Sound's, Windsor sent it to Erie back in 2011 in the Marchese trade (not sure how Windsor ended up with it). Erie sent Owen Sound the 39th pick today.

April 4 PBO trade Wsr's 2nd Rnd '14 to OS 3rd Rnd '14 & Osh's 2nd Rnd '15

April 4 ER trade 2nd Rnd '14 & 5th Rnd '16 to OS for 3rd Rnd '15 &
