Unless his name is Brouwer.

When has Brouwer ever scored at a 40-goal pace? He scored 17 goals at his age 24 year in a full season, and his career high was 22 at that point. Nyquist aleady bested Brouwer's career best numbers for both goals and points during his 57-game season last year and is four years younger.

Kimmo Timonen is being treated for blood clots in his leg and lungs. Currently no timetable for him to begin playing again. Always been a fan of him. :(

2012-13. 19 goals in 48 games. Whats the pace there?
edit: Looked it up. He was tied for 16th in the league in goals. 19 goals in 47 games. based on an 82 game schedule that paces out to 32.8.
edit 2.0: He backed up that 32.8 goal pace with a solid 25 goals last season.

That's great txpd. But none of that is a 40-goal pace or even remotely relevant to a conversation about Gustav Nyquist. Thanks for playing.

Tyler Dellow hired by Edmonton. Happy for him, but really bummed that not only he won't be posting new stuff but all his old stuff has been taken donw.

Nothing says solid like a 24% decline.

So 35 goals for Brouwer this year?

whats your point? I am wondering what would make you happy on that subject?
35 doesn't sound unreasonable. he seemed to have something holding him back and then found his game in the second half and scored a pile of goals. He scored 15 goals in the final 27 games thru Feb. March and April.

I can't imagine that you would like to see him get the quality of ice time that he got the last two seasons in order to put up 30+ goals anyway.

I don't think there realistically is enough ice time to get him to 30 goals. He should be a PP specialist whose ES icetime is limited to 10 minutes or so a night.

Looks like we have not much informations about him on our board. Would you mind giving us a resume about his game?

He's probably best used to mentor any AHL prospects. While he managed to play a few NHL games with sheltered assignments and didn't get completely abused (just mostly), he's not a guy you want to see in a Jets sweater for any length of time or on a consistent basis.

I am not sure I understand this. Other than you just don't like the guy. He scored 25 goals last season. that's two good games difference.

I could see your point if you were claiming that he has never produced like that before in his career. Except that he scored 19 goals in 47 games in the shortened season the season before.

The available black and white numbers don't back your NO CHANCE stance that Brouwer could score 30.

I'll bet you a dinner at Morton's in Georgetown vs an Audi R8 if you have that much confidence.

edit: 10 minutes is what Jay Beagle plays ES average. You want him on the 4th line? Brouwer was 4th on the team among forwards in even strength average ice time. He was 4th on the team in even strength goals scored/13.

Interesting stat. Brouwer lead the Capitals in +/- at home. +8

AHL defenseman. No better than NHL emergency depth. Okay offensive insticts, but his puck moving is very suspect at the NHL level. Plays a somewhat conservative, positional game in the defensive zone.

It's a pretty simple line of thought. He sucks at even strength and should not be given a featured role when we play at even strength.

I'm fine with him on the PP so long as it works, but he contributes nothing when he's not on the PP.

he's not without his warts at even strength but 4th on the team in ES goals isn't nothing. team leading +8 at home says something as well. so...that's two somethings to your contributes nothing.

Team leading +/- at home tells you nothing. He was 4th on the team in ESG and 6 in ESG/ESTOI. I expect him to drop to at least 7 as two of Laich/Backstrom/Kuznetzov pass him (Grabo leaves).

Passenger.

It says that you have no idea what stats to look at to evaluate a player.

"Hey guys, let's take a stat that is wildly erratic due to its low rate of events that fuel it and cut the sample size in half!"
