Pre-tourney games start today in Sweden. Canada/Finland playing currently and USA/Sweden at 1:30pm eastern.

Caps prospects competing:
Sweden: 4 Djoos & 18 Burakovsky
USA: 11 Barber, 14 DiPauli & 28 Carrick

All but DiPauli should be locks to make final rosters. DiPauli has a decent chance and needs to beat out two forwards IINM.

Noteworthy 2014-eligible players:
Canada: 5 Ekblad & 23 Reinhart
Czech Republic: 9 Pastrnak & 15 Vrana
Finland: 9 Honka
Germany: 15 Draisaitl
Russia: 12 Barbashev
Sweden: 27 Karlsson
USA: 35 Demko

Also a very good chance 2015-eligibles Connor McDavid (Canada) and Jack Eichel (USA) suit up for the tourney.

Barber just took such a soft penalty. I remember these refs now. My lord.

Did Gord Miller say Carrick left Plymouth because of a conflict with his coach? If he did, hes a moron is saying a lot of stupid untrue things.

Di Pauli, Carrick and Barber are all exceptional skaters. Really quick on their feet.

Barber & DiPauli picked up assists in a 3-2 win over Finland in pre-tourney action. Still hard to say whether DiPauli will make it, particularly since two of the LW options (Erne, Motte) haven't played in the two overseas pre-tourney games. Samuelsson seems like a relatively easy first cut up front but the last cut is hard to peg...and even Samuelsson could make it should those two LWs be in questionable health.

Sweden plays Canada at the top of the hour.

Burakovsky has looked really good early IMO. Plays in the Backstrom spot on Sweden's 2nd unit 1-3-1 power play. Should have an assist but Sorensen couldn't finish on a semi-breakaway. I've noticed he also has that silky smooth touch on the puck that both Backstrom and Johansson have.

Djoos has been solid. Plays on the powerplay. Nothing real noticeable which is what you want from a guy like him.

Burakovsky scores. His line has been dangerous all game so far. 1-0 Sweden.

Edit: He's spelling his name Burakowsky at the WJC so I'm not sure what to call him.
