I like McQ, a lot, but why is he coming here as a 7th? I think he could max out at $3M in UFA.

Still need to hit the cap floor lol. With Engelland making that type of coin I wouldn't really mind paying McQuaid that either. But he's someone I'd rotate into the bottom pairing instead of him being a regular due to his durability issues.

I agree. He would be a great third pairing Dman, but 3M is pretty steep.

Of course the last thing that would surprise me is if Moss, Chip, and Korpi were still in Sedona Red once September rolls around.

I think Moss is a goner, but Chip and Korpi, not sure yet.

I'd happily take McQuaid, although if we're to blow our brains out in free agency, I'd rather overpay for someone like Mike Green than overpay for McQuaid. I know that doesn't address the physicality issue, but it certainly adds another top-pairing D. Plus OEL/Green would just be a lot of fun.

We don't really have any up-and-coming RHD so it shouldn't be an issue to add some term there (~5 years), whether that player is added through free agency or in a cap dump trade. Same names as always on the trade board: Girardi, Seabrook, Luke Schenn, Polak, etc...
