Keenan Inks New Contract

Mike Keenan has signed a standard player contract with Albany.

“Good for him; he's earned it,” Kowalsky said. “You know what you are getting from him every day. He's going to give you the same thing whether it’s in the gym, on the ice or in the dressing room, practice or games. He's really earned that spot. We made the decision to start working on a deal a couple of weeks ago, but really his last three games have been his best of the year.”

The 25-year-old began the season with Orlando (ECHL) before Albany signed him to a PTO on Dec. 4. In 15 AHL games he has an assist.

The Manchester Monarchs, primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed left wing Paul Bissonnette to a standard player’s contract (SPC) through the remainder of the 2014-15 season. He was released from his professional try out agreement (PTO).

Bissonnette, 29, has three assists and 29 penalty minutes in 19 games with the Monarchs this season. Manchester signed the 6-foot-3 winger to a PTO on Dec. 9 after he was released by Portland the previous day.

Also, Brandon Yip was released from his SPC with Norfolk (Per AHL transactions).

We don't know the official reason yet of his release, but the former NHLer probably didn't really appreciate being sent down to the ECHL.

I guess he is either looking to sign with another AHL or somewhere in Europe.

Mangene (MAN-jeen), 25, signed a tryout agreement and joined the Stars on Dec. 20, 2014. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Manorville, N. Y. tallied assists in his first two games for the Stars and has appeared in 15 games this season, recording seven assists overall.

News!

The Tampa Bay Lightning kept polishing the potential playoff roster of the Syracuse Crunch on Monday by signing No. 2 goalie Allen York to a NHL-AHL deal.

York had been playing under an AHL-ECHL pact. The new deal runs through the end of the season. York, 25, has appeared in three games with the Crunch this year, posting a record of 1-0-1.

With the recent retirement of Evgeni Nabokov, Tampa Bay had been left with three goalies under NHL contracts: Ben Bishop, Andrei Vasilevskiy and Kristers Gudlevskis. NHL teams want to have four signed at any given time, in case two get hurt.

Only two trades on very quiet trade deadline day :

The Syracuse Crunch have acquired forward Justin Courtnall from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in exchange for future considerations.

Courtnall, 25, has played 40 games with Bridgeport this season, totaling four goals, seven points and 82 penalty minutes. In 107 career AHL games with Providence, Hamilton and Bridgeport, he has 10 goals and 16 points.

The Worcester Sharks (@WorcesterSharks), proud American Hockey League affiliate of the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) announced today that the club has acquired forward Vincent Arseneau (@Vincentarseneau) from the Manchester Monarchs for future considerations.

Arseneau, 22, has posted 14 points (9-5-14) and 132 penalty minutes in 37 games with the Ontario Reign and the Indy Fuel of the ECHL this season. Vincent played 24 games with Lake Erie (AHL) in 2012-14 and posted one assist along with 95 penalty minutes. He also skated in 47 games with Denver (CHL) in 2013-14 and posted 37 points (24-13-37) and 120 penalty minutes in 47 games.

However, the most notable move of the day, in the AHL, wasn't even a trade!

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today announced that they have signed defenseman Danny Syvret to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

The 10th-year veteran appeared in 58 games this year for the Iowa Wild, recording four goals, 14 assists and 18 penalty minutes. Last season, Syvret led Hartford in both assists (37) and points (46) and was the only Wolf Pack player to appear in all 76 games.

News!

-Charlie Dodero (Syracuse), Dane Walters (Rockford) and Andrew Cherniwchan (Providence) have been released from their PTOs and signed to SPCs.

-After scoring 19 points in 34 games, Ian White was released from his PTO. To take White's place on the roster, Milwaukee has sign its former captain Scott Ford to a PTO.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first signings of 2015-2016 have been announced!

Matt Lorito has been since to the traditional PTO + SPC.
Though Matt Lorito ’15 did not end his last season for the men’s hockey team as he had hoped, he is starting his post-Brown hockey career on a better note.

The senior signed an amateur tryout agreement with the AHL’s Albany Devils, the minor league affiliate for the NHL’s New Jersey Devils. Albany was not the only team that reached out to Lorito — eight other NHL team representatives contacted him, including the Washington Capitals and the Nashville Predators, he said.

Not only did he sign an ATO, but he also has a contract in place for the next season in the AHL. The ATO allows him to join the team for the remainder of this season — which is almost over — and the AHL contract allows him to play his first full season for the club next year.
http://www.browndailyherald.com/2015/03/16/lorito-15-signs-with-devils-affiliate/

Scott Czarnowczan has signed for another year with Grand Rapids.

More players might be under contract for next season, however nothing was announced in that regard.

With 26 points in 33 games this season with the Marlies, Froese is clearly one of the nicest surprise in the AHL.
