Our best forward... could have been a different game if that play didn't happen.

Since he didn't return I'm guessing a broken collaborn which means end of the playoffs for him... he will be fine in a couple of months though

Speculation has been collarbone, shoulder and/or neck, Cooper said neck. Who knows.

How this game would've ended with our most dangerous forward in it? :dunno:

As a Rangers fan I can tell you--just being very good is not good enough. If you're going to win a Cup you need to be lucky too. As in our series we found out later that 2/3rds of our D should have been in the hospital and Zucc missing since the first round on a freak play. Last year's playoffs we had some injuries but nothing that kept anyone out of lineup very long. This year that changed and our luck ran out. Last night your luck seemed to run out with Kucherov getting hurt. Depth helps but replacing a guy like that is impossible. This is where Stamkos needs to step up--but he's kind of become your version of our Rick Nash. You do have the better version though. I'd trade you Nash for Stamkos in a heartbeat.

There is a lot of luck to this game than most other sports. In this game, if you keep putting effort into your play with the skill you have you will find the back of the net. Every scoring chance is an opportunity for you to get a lucky bounce. We needed to challenge Crawford more but failed to do so.

Kucherov in 'considerably better shape,' could play Monday

As bad as the injury to RW Nikita Kucherov looked Saturday night, it appears there's a chance he could be back in the lineup Monday for Game 6 against the Blackhawks.

Just five minutes into Saturday's game, Kucherov tripped over Chicago goalie Corey Crawford and collided with the left post, Cooper indicating the Russian wing's head made impact. Kucherov was hunched over in pain, leaving the game and never returning.

But Cooper said Kucherov has made significant progress, and even if he doesn't participate in Monday's optional skate, he could play.

"He's in considerable better shape today than he was last night," Cooper said. "And, to be honest, I thought there was a chance he was coming back (Saturday) night. But it didn't work out. These two days will give him the rest he needs."

Getting Kucherov back would be a huge boost as he's the Lightning's second-leading scorer this postseason, a key cog on its best line, the "Triplets." With Kucherov out Saturday, C Steven Stamkos and rookie LW Jonathan Drouin each took shifts with C Tyler Johnson and LW Ondrej Palat.

Cooper also said goalie Ben Bishop came out of Saturday's game feeling much better, so it looks like he'll likely start Monday.

Johnson had a broken wrist, suffered early in the series.

Wonder if he'll have a slump year next year because of this horrific injury, like Stamkos :sarcasm:

Love you Stammer, but I'm just not happy with you at the moment.

Hey but the Blackhawks dynasty eh? We got screwed by the injury bug. Don't care what anyone says... that team was no better

It was better in one way: they came through in the huge moments.

You guys are going to have a scary good team for a long time. Was rooting hard for a Lighting win but those injuries were near impossible to overcome. Really tough to see that happen when it was clear they could go toe to toe with the Hawks when even close to healthy.

That two-thirds of the Lightning's most dangerous line, "Triplets" Tyler Johnson and Nikita Kucherov, were banged up didn't help. Johnson told the Tampa Bay Times he played with a broken right wrist, suffered early in the Cup final. He still led the NHL with 13 postseason goals but had just one in his last 10 games.

"It's disappointing," Johnson said. "You want to give 100 percent, especially in situation like this, but are really not capable of doing that."

Bishop, who revealed he was playing through a torn groin since Game 2 of a thrilling Stanley Cup final, reflected on how painfully close the series was.
