I know we had another WJC thread, but that one was for Wotherspoon making Team Canada. We don't have a general WJC thread up yet, so I thought I would create one.

Where it is being played: Ufa, Russia.
Where you can find the game: TSN; NHL Network
How long the tournament is: December 26-January 5. However, there will be preliminary game before the 26th.

Anyways, here is a rundown on all of the teams going to the tournament.

Good idea for a thread as for as camp goes today the US had
Sieloff - Trouba as the top pairing and
Gaudreau-Grimaldi-Miller as the first/2nd line

also Finland has been practicing with

Lehkonen-Barkov-Haapala
Aaltonen-Teräväinen-Ikonen
Granlund-Salomäki-Armia

as its top 9

I may have not been following all too closely but how did our prospects that were trying out for the U.S. make out? Did they all make the preliminary roster?

Edit: I see my question has now been answered in the post.

Just so everyone knows, the USA will be announcing their rosters on the 22nd.

Either way, I'm fairly confident that Canada will be a top contender for the WJC.

Here is what I see:

1. Canada
2. Russia
3. Finland
4. USA
5. Sweden
6. Czech Republic

In all honesty, I think 3-6 will be super close, I think any of those could medal.

Canada loses 3-2 to Finland. I'm not getting too worried as the players may have Jet-lag, plus the reffing was absolutely horrible.

I read that Brossoit had a good camp as well. I think his stats previous to camp is what decided it. Also I have a feeling the goaltending was determined before camp even started.

He actually had the second best camp out of the goalies he is just having a bad year.

I didnt see anything from the training camp but sportsnet said he was arguably the best goalie in camp.

Apparently I am mistaken, I was going off what someone on the board told me/posted.

He didn't have a great summer camp but was the second best statistical goalie at the final evaluation camp he seemed like he never had a shot and was invited to even out the goalies in camp.

Thats what I heard on the fan 960 too, they said he had a great camp and when told him it had nothing to do with his camp.

So obviously some politics involved here likely.
