In what was a see-saw battle ultimately decided in a shootout, the USA defeated Russia, 4-3, to move on to their fifth consecutive gold medal game at the U18 World Junior Championship. Team USA's opponent in the championship game will be Canada, who are going for their first gold medal win in five years at this event.



Although his shootout goal was not the game winner – Tyler Kelleher earned that honor – USA captain JT Compher scored the insurance marker in the shootout that sent he and his teammates on to the U18's championship game.

Compher is tied for the scoring lead on the USA roster with forward Tyler Motte at seven points apiece, with Compher achieving his total on three goals and four assists.… read more
