So if DD is on the wing and Chucky plays center

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Gallagher
Bourque - Galchenyuk - Brière
Desharnais - Eller - Gionta
Prust - White - Parros/Moen

I think we are better like it was proposed earlier

Galchenyuk - Eller - Brière
Pacioretty - Plekanec - Gallagher
Bourque - Desharnais - Gionta
Prust - White - Parros/Moen

I would like to see Galchenyuk get some experience centering, but i think it will be benefical for both the team and alex if he is on the wing the majority of the season

I just hope that Galchenyuk and Eller get bigger roles (PP, top 2 lines) next season.. Eller especially.

Why will it be beneficial for Galchenyuk if he is on the wing the majority of the season?

None of these lines can take a heavy defensive role because all of them have a really weak link. One of Eller or Plekanec's line must be more solid defensively. Which means Bourque and Gionta pretty much have to be on the same line. Or Prust if Gionta is injured.

I'd go:

Bourque - Plekanec - Gionta
Pacioretty - Desharnais - Gallagher
Galchenyuk - Eller - Brière (Chucky and Eller were awesome together, add in Brière and this might very well be the top line). I would much rather have Desharnais at wing, but not sure how to achieve it…

Bourque - Plekanec - Gionta
Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Desharnais - Eller - Brière

perhaps? but then Eller can't cycle with anyone...

He's used to it. No worries.

Even though Gionta has 1 year left on his contract, I'd buy him out. Save 3.33M and take 1.66M hit next year. Then take a calculated gamble on Damien Brunner. 4 year term at 3M per.

Max Pacioretty ($4.500m) / David Desharnais ($3.500m) / Damien Brunner ($3.000m)
Rene Bourque ($3.333m) / Tomas Plekanec ($5.000m) / Brendan Gallagher ($0.870m)
Alex Galchenyuk ($3.225m) / Lars Eller ($1.325m) / Danny Briere ($4.000m)
Travis Moen ($1.850m) / Ryan White ($0.750m) / Brandon Prust ($2.500m)
George Parros ($0.938m) / Gabriel Dumont ($0.600m) /

Josh Gorges ($3.900m) / P.K. Subban ($2.875m)
Andrei Markov ($5.750m) / Alexei Emelin ($2.000m)
Jarred Tinordi ($1.083m) / Raphael Diaz ($1.225m)
Francis Bouillon ($1.500m) / Davis Drewiske ($0.638m)

Carey Price ($6.500m)
Peter Budaj ($1.400m)

Buyout: Brian Gionta ($1.667m)
------

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $63,927,500; BONUSES: $2,697,500
CAP SPACE (24-man roster): $3,070,000

Everybody whines and cries about having more size in our forward group, but we're only 1 big LW in and 1 center out of being a big team.

Example:

Malone-Galchenyuk-Briere
Bourque-Eller-Gionta
Pacioretty-Plekanec-Gallagher
Prust-White-Parros
Moen

Can you consider this a small soft team? I can't..

So you buyout a guy to 'save' 3M in cap space and then you go on a produce a lineup with 3M in free cap space?

Are you guys on drugs or what?

Well, I'm comfortable with the roster. And I suppose you always need some healthy wiggle room come deadline if you're lucky enough to make a push.

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Gallagher > Plekanec has two legit snipers to pass to
Galchenyuk - Eller - Gionta > Chucky & Larry dances around the D, Gio picks up the scraps
Prust - Briere - Bourque > Prust & Bourque drive the net, Briere is left with room
Moen - Desharnais - Parros > Someone knocks DD down, Parros jumps him.

Emelin - Subban
Markov - Gorges
Bouillon - Diaz

This makes the most sense. Prust creates space and wasted on the 4th line

Parros is there so fans won't make this a big issue. Not sure if Parros can play at 33.

I don't think you get it. You don't ditch your captain 'just in case'. You ditch him if he's really underperforming and you really need the cap space.

Saving 3M in cap space that you won't even use is completely dumb given that you also send a bad vibe by buying out a respected player.

My take on the matter with things as they are right now:

Bourque - Plekanec - Gallagher
Pacioretty - Desharnais - Gionta
Galchenyuk - Eller - Briere
Moen - Prust - Parros/White

or

Pacioretty Eller Gallagher
Galchenyuk Briere Gionta
Bourque Plekanec Desharnais
Moen - Prust - Parros/White

or

Galchenyuk Briere Gallagher
Bourque Plekanec Gionta
Pacioretty Eller Desharnais
Moen - Prust - White/Parros

Loads of possibilities. Ideally, swap Desharnais with a decent winger or a decent d-man... In the latter case:

Galchenyuk - Briere - Gallagher
Bourque - Plekanec - Gionta
Pacioretty - Eller - Prust
Moen - White - Parros

with a better D back there.

Looking at all these different lineups, IMO it's getting hard to justify Moen's spot on the team. I'd be tempted to waive him if we can't trade him for a pick.

I'm willing to give Moen a last chance next season... But yeah... He better get better this season.

I personally feel like we've got one extra center on this team, and the more I look at it, the more I HOPE Desharnais is going to be the one put on a wing. Not Briere.

I disagree. I feel like giving Plekanec two solid goal scoring wingers in Briere and Pacioretty (or even Bourque), all three could hit 60-65pts+ next season.
