Your idea and reality don't mesh. Didn't Malkin just sign for 9.5? That is the bar for Franchise money, IMO.

Would it make you feel better if I said that I'd only pay 7.5+ to a very select group that doesn't include Kessel.

If we pay him north of 7.5 their is a good chance we'll be calling him overpaid very shortly after.

Sounds like you feel that Players are overpaid in general. That won't stop Teams from paying them though.

some will complain about Kessel no matter what he's paid.
