I think there is a greater chance of Doan playing with Hanzal and Vrbata then playing 3rd line minutes.

Yea but I was thinking more along the lines of a 1a/1b/1c kinda thing. Ribs and Vrbata would get more PP time and Hanzal and Korpikoski would have more PK time. Doan could be a 2nd string on either of those.

Just finished watching a few videos of Lats. I was very impressed with his hockey IQ and his shoot. I don't think his foot speed will be a factor as some have suggested. We are going to have a very interesting training camp this year.

I think putting him on a line with Ribs and Doaner is going to be great. Maybe being on a line with the captain will motivate him to keep his feet moving.

I would love to see what Boeds can do on a line with Vrbata and Hanzal. As everyone says, its going to be an interesting camp, and I cannot wait!

Glad you came around quickly to seeing that. :)

Guillaume's "big" brother Olivier must have given him a good report on the organization\area ;).
Anybody know/remember if they are in fact bros?

It's simply gonna depend on his health. The guy can play. I remember years ago a guy named Dan Cleary was invited to Detroits camp when he hel similar concerns, etc. this could be one of those situations where things just work out.

I still expect another player after listening to Maloney a few weeks back.

With Brian Burke now at the top of Calgary food chain..... he will blow this thing up for sure..... good trading partner....
Yotes could unload some D prospects for some talent.:handclap:

Calgary is pretty blown up already though. Unless we can somehow make the $$$ work with Hudler there is not much I'm interested in.

I think I'd feel bad sending Rusty in to that mess .

The other issue too Is even if they decide to unload Hudler I'm not sure they'd want Klesla back. They already have enough vets on D. Now if the Flames just want the expiring deal then maybe. I think they'd go for long shot futures and a pick or something first though.

The Flames would need to retain at least 40% of Hudler's remaining salary in order for us to be able to fit him under budget. If they are trading off effective veteran players, then they are likely going to want youth in return more so than vets. That makes Klesla a player that they neither need nor want. Just an asset to flip.

Maybe if we do Klesla to Winnipeg for a 2nd, and then offer Calgary our first round pick for Hudler with 40-50% salary retained they could be interested. Would leave us without a first, but we'd at least have two seconds. Would sort of make the Latendresse invite kind of pointless.

Honestly, I like the way our camp is shaping up, as-is.

If we could flip Klesla to Colorado for Sgarbossa (idea on the main board) and get Boedker signed, we could go to camp with a top six forward group consisting of Ribeiro, Doan, Boedker, Hanzal, and Vrbata (with Latendresse, Sgarbossa, and Miele all fighting tooth and nail for the remaining spot) and a bottom six of Korpikoski, Vermette, Moss, Klinkhammer and Chipchura (with Brule, Yip, McMillan Lessio and Brown all fighting tooth and nail for the final spot).

Plus, eight D with one-way contracts fighting it out with Gormley and Murphy.

That'd be a great camp. I say we make two final moves and call it good.

1. Sign Boedker
2. Trade Klesla for a Sgarbossa-esque player (one capable of stealing a spot)

Obviously nothing too revealing by Maloney in his responses on #AskGMDM. Indicated that he's not likely going to sign a UFA before training camp, but may bring in more on camp tryouts. No trades are imminent as of now. Also says Gormley is very close and that Brule is in peak form and hungry to rejoin the Yotes.

FWIW, I asked him about if he's concerned about our ability to win faceoffs now that Gordo's gone. GMDM said he is, but he hopes that Vermette and someone else can emerge to offset that loss.

There are a couple of pretty darn interesting rookie camp invites...

Brenden Walker - captain of the Saskatoon Blades, one of the few Blades to actually have a good season. He looked pretty good at the Memorial Cup.

Keven Veilleux - former 2nd round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins - I remember a lot of folks around here advocating the Coyotes making him one of our picks when he was eligible - mammoth 6'6'' center played for Rimouski but has failed to develop as hoped to this point -could still develop - the tall ones often take longer

Smitty is doing the media rounds today, looking spiffy and without that hideous do he sported at the beginning of last season. Hope he starts earning that contract by returning to Beast Mode for us.

Years of my life w you f*cks only to get relocated
Summary from the Don Maloney Fan Question Segment:
Expects 3-6 Coyotes to go to the Olympics
Loves our defense depth, training camp will decide who stays and goes
Doesn't expect any UFA signings before camp, TC will be very telling
Expects Rundblad to make the team and be and NHL defenseman
HAS CONSIDERED BOTH HEDJUK AND BRUNNER AND CONSIDERS THEM OPTIONS STILL
Hopes to have an outdoor game soon
Idolizes GM Lou from the Devils
No trades are imminent, but always looking to improve
Main focus for the vacant LW spot is to find linemates for Ribeiro, then Hanzal & Vrbata
Will see how Domi performs against men in training camp before he makes any decisions
Said Lats will compete for a spot just like anybody else, no guarantees
Says Brule is in better shape than ever and hungry to make the team
Hope to have Boeds signed by TC
COULD SEE MORE PTO'S
Expects Vermette to play a more active role after Gordons departure.
Says Gormley is VERY CLOSE and will be a great player for us long in the future
Says Asst. Coach Newell is a great addition for us
Says AZ boys Burke, Samuelsson, and Zac Larraza all hopeful futures for the NHL

and that's all she wrote. Good stuff!

Looks like GMDM may bring in one/two more players on tryout basis.....

I wonder who ..... Hejduk, Brunner, Prospal, Boyes, Morrow....

Any ideas who may get invited to camp....
